"How about Nat of the Living-Dead?" Carol couldn't resist once the idea was put into her head, laughing and quickly dodging if she tried to hit or push her. "Sorry, sorry! Never again, I promise." They'd both been pulled from pretty bleak situations, but Carol felt the guilt of it deep down. It haunted her to think she was here and safe while others were not. Especially after what she'd learned. She was trying to live day to day while they worked out what to do, so why not live in the moment instead of focus on the entrapment? For now, at least.
Another moment of easy silence turned awkward as they sat quietly by the lake. Carol's mind was telling her it was time to run, but another part of her wasn't ready. She bit her cheek. There'd been a lot going on in the past few days- a lot of it was confusing. "So uh....I found out demons were real the other day. I mean...Hell, fire and brimstone and shit demons. At least somewhere." That had freaked her out more than she cared to admit. "I don't think I told you that." Nat had been busy with Clint a lot lately, and Carol had been keeping it to herself.
"There's a guy- John Constantine. You met him?" Then quickly her face went red and she added."Notlikethere's a guy, just....he deals with that sort of stuff. Went through the doors with him and there they were. I was barely able to scratch them." Carol had never really thought much about religion or an afterlife, even with all that happened to her. Growing up, her father had been pretty devout so she rebelled against the church. And Kree's didn't believe in anythingbeyondtheSupremeIntelligence. When you died, you were uploaded. If you were lucky. That was that.
And then there was something behind her voice when she'd mentioned his name. And she felt weird about it. Carol was unsure what she was thinking about it. She was probably just bored. And they had a lot in common. It had been a very long while since she'd thought about a man that way, and Nat had called it out earlier. It freaked her out.
