"What was I going to do, tell him to pause so that I could text you from his place?" Natasha said, laughing more at Carol's bald-faced indignation than the rest of it. God, she hated being left out of anything. If it had been anyone else, she wouldn't have found it so endearing, but on Carol, it was kind of a favorite trait. Not a lot of point in being a wallflower around her. Particularly not on a karaoke night. Or when secrecy was involved, apparently.
But it gave her a little bit of a rush, too, somewhere low in her stomach to - be able to talk about it, openly. It was all the difference in the world, being able to talk about it instead of just operating on the understanding that Steve and Tony, at least, had put the pieces together, but it was never a thing that was going to be spoken out loud. "Anyway - I might be giving myself too much of the credit, it was kind of a mutually timed jump. So I would say overall, yes, it was a positive reaction."
