"I was gonna say..." Carol laughed as she starred off over the lake, just trying to picture that. And honestly, it wasn't that hard. Natasha was the kind of woman that Carol expected just about anything out of. One of the many reasons she liked her.
"Ow!" Okay, it didn't hurt at all, but she could act offended, couldn't she? Carol rubbed her arm where she had been hit as if it had done damage, giving her friend a look before shaking her head. "What the hell was that for?"
Carol knew what it was probably for, but she'd stay in denial for as long as possible, as was her M.O.
"You're not in bad shape from what I see, especially in those pants." Yup. She was flirting to get around the tougher questions. Carol generally didn't flirt unless she'd been drinking. "It's okay, honestly. I'm more curious about what's got you so wrapped up that you're resorting to smutty bloodsuckers." She was diverting the topic, glancing at the book again then back at Nat. "How was your meeting with Steve?"
They hadn't had a chance to talk about it, but word got around quickly around here. Gossip was one of the only things there was to do. They really needed to figure out how to get TV soon.
