"Yeah, smart. Yeah..." His jaw visibly tensed, causing the tendon in the hollow of his cheek to twitch. He stared off somewhere, thinking. "Makes you wonder if, like, you should try and be happy in your current circumstance because you don't know when, or if, it will change. And then there's the other part that makes you feel guilty for trying to be happy because it means you're not devoting everything one hundred percent to trying to get back to your life."
Introspective Bobby Drake, wow. He broke away from his distant stare and moved those bright blue eyes over to Peter, offering him a smile and a breathy chuckle. "Is that Jewish guilt or Hero guilt?"
"When I was babysitting teen-me, we weren't really sure if they were getting back to their time. Didn't stop 'em from making the most of the time they had, though," he continued, eyebrows lifting briefly as he used that prelude to take a step closer, "saving a day or two, character development, romance...Ha, 'course, now he's gone and his memories merged with mine to compensate for the time gap and I guess I...we don't really feel any kind of regret after all. Life has to keep being lived."
Bobby stared into Peter's eyes for a few seconds before concluding, "But I bet ya'll know that."
