Who: Nyx Ulric and Tony Stark.
What: Tony is unimpressed with Nyx.
Where: Nyx's house.
When: Friday afternoon.
Rating: Low.

Nyx had been in this new place for only a week and a half, but he was finding the peaceful nature of the place. He had seen a lot of angst about being here, which the man could understand having. If he was amidst his mission and was suddenly finding himself in this place, he would be eager to get out too. Though, his mission was solid and done. He fought the bad guys, he killed a traitor, and did what he had to do to make sure the Princess would be on her journey to assist the Prince.

His job had come to an end... along with his life.

But his second life? Would it be called a second life here? Was just starting now. Which meant tending to this house he had. He had a quaint little house that was perfect for his specific purpose. Though there were some simple fixes that needed to be done. Like he had noticed some of the shingles were raising up, and that wouldn't do. Then also, some of the windows weren't easy to open.. or at all. Door creaked, floor boards squeaked, and window shutters didn't latch correctly.

So it lead to the Glaive moving about his house to tend to the repairs. Well the best he could without any tools. Looked like he would have to make a trip through the doors sooner than later in hopes to find a place with tools. That would be worlds easier to tap in nails or such. For the time being he made do with what he had, which was the butt end of his kukri. With a couple smacks on the nail head he was sealing, wincing each time, the nail was back in place. Examining the bottom of his weapon it was fine. But Nyx heard someone call up to him from the ground. Peering over the roof edge, he saw a man. What did he say?

"Huh?" Nyx spun the blade, and placed it in it's home on his thigh. "What can I do for you?"

It might have been an impressive land, sure, if Tony didn't hand out with the likes of Captain America and co a lot of the time. Well. Because he did that, he could see it was impressive, but he wasn't overly surprised. Everyone here seemed at least somewhat talented at something.

"Tony," he introduced himself in return but didn't offer a hand to shake -- it wasn't anything personal, it was just a thing that Tony rather liked avoiding.

"I've got tools, so long as you're not looking for anything too out there," he said carefully, looking at the little house too. One thing Tony would give this town was that if nothing else, the facades were all pretty cute. "You might also find some through the doors, but whether or not you want to take that risk and go through them is up to you." He paused. "Do you know much about roofing?"

When the new man didn't shake his hand, Nyx just perked a brow. Weird. Rude and weird. Though the soldier just went with the stride of it all.

Staring at his home with the man with the tools, Nyx shrugged some. "I don't know a whole lot." He admitted. "I'm more soldier nowadays, than handyman." With a sigh, hands on his hips, he let a smile keep gracing his face. "Though, I have all the time in the world currently. Not like I'm exactly going anywhere." Looking over to Tony, Nyx nudged him. "What's your story? We got time while walking to where ever your tools are." He commented.

Oh, but wasn't he friendly? Tony didn't know how he felt about someone who was good with a nudge, considering that he himself was rather deeply personal with his own space. It was fine though. It wasn't like he meant anything by it other than an attempt at kindness. Tony couldn't fault anyone for that.

"Lucky for you I'm pretty good with structures," Tony said, because. Yeah. He'd help Nyx get his roofing right. There was no way he'd be able to just hand off tools and let the soldier go at it like Thor with a hammer.

He slipped his hands into his pockets as he turned back to walk to his own place - and really, he needed to get started on cleaning out one of those store fronts for his own needs soon. It wasn't working anymore, just storing all of his things in the living room that did not allow for living anymore. "My story?" He asked, a little surprised. "Oh. It's a doozy."

Oh Nyx was the friendliest! Especially when he didn't have to be concerned with combat, war, and safeguarding a princess. Though, soldiering also left little for personal space, so that feeling was gone out the window long ago.

"Oh yeah?" Nyx perked a brow. "Were you an architect previously where you were from?" He asked politely to make that small chat.

"Well." Nyx considered his words as he carefully and then shrugged his shoulders. Not that he was particularly hiding his past. What reason did he have to hide. "I'm sure yours is, I'll start with my short version." Nyx offered a coy grin. Sure he just was incredibly curious of the people he was sharing a home with now. As a whole. "You see, I'm from a place with magic. I was a soldier for a king fighting a losing war against a tyrannical empire. My last moments on that world was getting immense power to fight back, save a princess, kill a traitor and then burn to a crisp from the magic that was given to me."

Raising both of his brows, he gave the look of 'You now.'

All good reasons to be more friendly now, Tony would agree. To be fair, he was making an effort too, in his own way. Back in New York he most certainly wouldn't have stopped to help an amateur roofer out.

"No, not an architect. I was an engineer -- well. It's similar, you know? Being able to build something from the ground up so that all the parts work right."

And yeah, alright. Once Nyx went first it was a little hard to refuse sharing when the guy admitted he'd just died for a worthy cause. And he didn't even seem upset about it.

"Ah, I was -- on a team. The Avengers. We were our planets' defenders. We -- I. We didn't win the last one. Half the universe was destroyed with a snap of someone's fingers." He sighed, glanced over at the other man. "And now I'm here."

"Engineer." Nyx repeated considering the things this man might have made. "I bet you've created great things for your people, Tony." Nyx confirmed on his own. The stature of the man said it all really.

Listening to the story, Nyx slowly nodded his head. The loss could be something he could relate to. The battle in which Libertus had gotten hurt, was a profound loss on a grand scale, and was leading cause of the Niflheim invasion. Honestly, it was a matter of time.

"Well, we can only do what we can with what we are provided. Sometimes, we have to take a loss to regroup and provide a win later." Nyx said with a somber tone. "I have faith that you and your Avengers will find a way to ultimately win your battle and right the wrongs." Nyx thought for a moment. "I guess as soon as you find a way from this place." At least Nyx hoped.

Oh, Tony had created some very good things, alright. But he'd made a lot of bad things too. If it balanced out was really a matter of opinion, and Tony was sure to have the worst view on it of everyone. He only shrugged his shoulders noncommittally.

"You're not wrong," Tony admitted once they'd stopped in front of a house - light blue and strangely welcoming, with it's sturdy porch and clean windows. "As much as I hate to admit the defeat, that's what it was. Now's the time to plan for something better. Assuming we haven't fully broken the timeline and all of our chances just by being here." Time was so tricky.

Broken timelines? Is that a thing? Did him coming here after the fall of Insomnia screwed up the timelines of his world? Surely the gods would do such a thing? They were all powerful after all.

"That is a method at hand." Nyx admitted, but he was also a person to never admit defeat. As long as he had strength in his body, he'd continue fighting. For hearth and home. That was his number one order. That was his number one order.

He now had none.

"Nice place." Nyx commented on the blue house.

It was probably a little harder to properly break a timeline when you were already dead where you came from, Tony supposed. But Natasha was here now, five years of time between them, and she had answers to questions he hadn't even considered asking yet. So. Something was broken, yes. Maybe not with Nyx, though.

Tony only rose an eyebrow and then shrugged in general agreement. It was the method at hand, that was true.

"Thanks," he said of the house, looking at it a little thoughtfully. "My...housemate keeps it clean. I just make a mess and build things. We're practically playing house." Which Nyx was doing too, in his own right. Attempting to fix his roof with a knife of some kind. "Gimme a sec, I'll grab what you need."

He had a basic toolbox, so it was easy enough just grabbing the whole thing.

There was no logic to what timelines did to what and who. The whole theory was lost on him, and made no sense. Regardless if he was truly alive and living or completely dead didn't matter to Nyx in the now.

All he could do is deal with what he had in the immediate.

Housemate. He didn't have one of those. Had room for one. Nyx just stayed in the bedroom, but he had found the attic space was huge and livable even with a pair of windows. Just not easy to access. Moot point. Not like he needed a housemate. Nyx nodded to the man. "Take your time." While Tony was away, Nyx stretched and shifted his weight around to keep himself limber.

Things you did while being bored, and when Tony returned with his tools Nyx offered a smile. "I don't want you to feel you have to do any work. It sounds like you have more than enough work at hand."

And Nyx might do just fine alone. Tony wasn't the sort who did, not really. He needed someone relatively nearby to be able to show up, to tell him when he needed to stop, because otherwise he simply wouldn't.

"What?" He asked, almost offended. "Why wouldn't I help? What else is there to do?" And there he went again, really. But he felt like it was true -- if he stopped working, he wasn't sure what he'd have. Not really. Certainly, time to think. And he didn't want that by any measure.

Nyx raised his hands in self defense surrendering to the other man. "I meant no ill will by that. I will happily accept your help, master Engineer." He quickly followed up. "We'll just say I owe you one, and you can come call on my help when you need something."

He wasn't sure what he could offer. He wasn't exactly brimming with other worldly skills other than cutting an enemy and saving a princess, and lets be honest. He was pretty shit at that.

Once the pair was ready, Nyx led Tony back to his place so they could get set up and started.
