She hadn't expected Harley to getting personal, to ask about her life what she did with herself. It wasn't the direction Barbara wanted to go in - even if she told her the truth it wouldn't exactly be the sort of picture that would be good for her, daughter of the Police Commissioner of Gotham? Not a great look.
"I'm from Metropolis." She decided finally, somewhere familiar enough but not Gotham, a little distance was a good idea, especially with how exposed she felt with Harley talking about the Joker the way she had, like she missed him and wanted him there.
"I go to the university." She explained, it was the truth enough, even if the setting wasn't right. "I've been working on my Masters degree for the last couple of years." She took a drink from the bottle that Harley had offered to her, wincing a little at the burn of it, but decided she needed that. "I guess I'm taking a sabbatical now though." She said with a sigh, being stuck here was going to ruin more than just her reputation as Batgirl but also her academic career.
"What about you?" She asked, she was curious about this version of Harley, wondering just how different she was from the one she knew.
