Yeah, that was a fair enough deal and John said so by proceeding to push the cart out of the building. And hey, they'd gotten a cart out of the deal. It was the first thing on wheels John had seen in a while, honestly. It wasn't saying much.
"Instant superpowers," John surmised, a little amused even though he also understood there was some gravity to the situation. It did sound like a proper sort of hero's awakening though. "Have to love a good government secret," he mused.
What about him? John tilted his head back to squint up at the sky and then raised his shoulders in a shrug. "Not always. Sort of fell into it when I was younger. Magic, anyway. It came naturally and seemed like a perfectly good thing to study up on."
He considered in silence for a moment before glancing over at Carol and letting out a sniff. "Walked into a bad, bloody scene once - this little girl had accidentally raised a monster. I was some hot shot, y'know. Thought I could handle it by summoning up something to fight it with. He killed that monster bloody and then dragged that little girl back down to hell with him. That was my first real go around with a demon."
Best to leave the part out where he'd been subsequently blamed for the murder of a little girl and committed to an insane asylum for the next three years. For now.
