Bucky Barnes (MCU) & Tony; JARVIS invented nyancat
Being dependent on Steve Rogers was something Bucky had been accustomed to for decades. They'd developed a level of codependency when they were children and it only grew as the two of them grew older. It was why Bucky stood there in a burning building shouting he wasn't going to leave without Steve. It was why Steve dropped the shield on that helicarrier. Maybe some of it was unhealthy but it was what they knew. Shifting that into the whole situation with Stark, well, it made the codependency that much more complicated. Because whether Stark wanted to admit it or not, there was some dependency there too. This whole thing had been incredibly personal. In another setting, with better conditions and a lot less alcohol, maybe Bucky and Tony could've worked out some of their issues. But it was an extremely fragile and delicate situation and confronting it head on with a booze fueled Tony Stark trying to navigate through it with Bucky resisting about as hard as he could, well, it didn't make for a good mix. They needed Steve.

He'd meant it when he said that Tony and Steve needed to get their shit together and figure things out. It wasn't going to fix anything if they didn't have it out. He'd concede that even though his and Tony's talk was pretty awful, some things were brought up that needed to be, but not right fucking now in the middle of a bar with other people in it and way too much scotch on Tony's breath. If he was being honest with himself, Bucky knew he needed to talk all of this out with Steve too, because there was a lot of shit he didn't understand either. All three of them were just big on avoiding and not so much on confronting emotional issues in a healthy, constructive way.

"Yeah well," he finished off what was left of his beer. "I grew up with Steve Rogers. I had to be." He got up from his seat. "I shouldn't have come here. Great talk, Stark." He shook his head and walked past him, heading for the door.
