Bucky Barnes (MCU) & Tony; careful of the dark web JARVIS
Had things not gone to hell with Zemo showing Stark that footage, then yes, they probably would've done well as a trio in stopping him, foiling his plan. But they'd gotten it all wrong. They'd assumed Zemo was going to unleash the other Winter Soldiers, but that wasn't the plan at all. They'd played right into it and even though Zemo was in a prison cell, all of them were still reeling in the aftermath to this very moment. And the real kicker was, they couldn't even blame Zemo. It wasn't like he did anything. He just showed them what was there. If it hadn't been Siberia, it would've been something else at some point. It was going to come out eventually. Zemo just sped it up.

And now here they were, in a bar in some bizarre clash of universes having it out. Tony was drunk, Bucky was numb and all of it was just a recipe for disaster. Bucky wanted to remove himself from the conversation. It wasn't going to get better. It was just going to get worse and frankly he didn't want Steve involved with it. Not while Tony was drunk. Nothing good was going to come from this.

Although Bucky knew Steve had a stake in this too, that he was also at fault, it'd be a cold day in hell before he'd ever throw his best friend under the bus other than sort of hinting at it before. He'd call Steve out on his own bullshit to his face, but he'd never do it to anyone else, least of all to Tony Stark. He'd defend him no matter what. It was what they always did. Even when Steve thought the Winter Soldier really had set off that bomb during the Accords signing, he'd come to try to warn him and get him away from the authorities. It didn't matter what the other did; they had each other's backs and had since they were children.

"I didn't put him there," Bucky said, flatly. "I didn't draw a line. In fact, I was trying to pull myself out of the equation entirely before Zemo fucked it all up. So if Steve's in the middle, then you two can figure it out. Probably not until you've slept and drained Barton of all his coffee, if you want that conversation to go better than this one."
