mr. bucket; buckets of fun ([info]sgt_barnesjb) wrote in [info]snapthread,
Bucky (MCU) & Steve (AVAC)
The more Bucky looked at him, the more questions he had. He wasn't the type to get overly invasive with other people, because he certainly didn't want to offer up anything about himself to people who didn't already know who and what he was. But this was Steve. Not his Steve, but a Steve nonetheless. Was the Bucky in his world like him? Was he also a Winter Soldier at one point, or maybe still? If he hadn't, or wasn't, then Bucky didn't think he wanted to explain what that had been like in his world. If there was still a chance he could be triggered back into a heartless killing machine, then sure, he'd want everyone to know so they'd have their guard up. But since Shuri had fixed that he didn't think it was necessary to divulge. Not during their first conversation, anyway.

"Just kind of taking it by day," he said. "I haven't done that much venturing through the door. Twice, to that convention place. Mostly I've kept to myself. That's why I'm here tonight. Figured I needed to get out, be less of a hermit." Something about seeing a version of Steve who was so young really warmed his heart. It was a nice feeling. A little bittersweet, but mostly the latter. "May I ask, what were you doing before you ended up here? You don't have to answer if you don't want. It's just, you're Steve. Not the Steve I know, but still Steve."
