Bucky preferred to keep things simple. Avoid Stark, avoid conflict. Neither of them were exactly the type who were prone to talk it out. Avoidance was much easier, less messy, and it kept anyone from having to get in the middle -- also known as: Steve Rogers. When he'd arrived and found out they were both there, he'd been worried. But then he'd come to find they were living in the same dwelling and that made it even more complicated. If Steve and Stark wanted to figure it out, then Bucky would remove himself from the equation and let that be. So far, it'd been working. Anything else would just complicate it.
Or so he told himself. If he was being honest, it didn't make it any less complicated at all. It was just the elephant in the room. A big elephant stomping through town with neon lights strapped to it that read 'ISSUES' flashing for all of Starklandia to see.
He still didn't want to talk about it.
"I think we both know it's more complicated than your face," he said. He swirled what was left of his third beer around in the bottle; it was easier to look at that than it was to meet Tony's eyes.
