Who: Klaus Hargreeves and Regulus Black
What: The sharing of spoils
When: After this exchange
Where: Around town
Rating: probably low, but who knows! nsfw!

Sure people had said that he should take a partner with him through the door when he went, but when did Klaus ever do what he was told? He certainly wasn't about to start doing that now that he was in a new place and entirely on his own. So he'd poked his head through one of the doors and when it seemed normal enough he'd gone through. It was almost like he was home, enough so that he felt completely safe to grab whatever he wanted and make a dash back through the door again when he was finished with shouts trailing him.

"Huh, that's convenient." He'd been followed but it seemed that once the door closed behind him whatever had been there on the other side was gone. Though he didn't open it again to check. Instead he cracked into a bottle he'd brought back with him and took a swig wincing at the burn of it before he took another.

"Yep, great work. You'd have been proud Benny." He announced to his brother who was not there though he should have been. "This was really great work."

And he wandered his way back through town until a brilliant idea struck him. He now had plenty of little things to share if he wanted, sure he could hoard them all but why? When he could just go back through again and get more. And there was someone here who needed to live a little by the sound of it so he'd gotten in contact with that never seen a movie guy and let him know he spoils to share if he wanted to come over and have them.

Klaus left the door open for his guest to let himself in and spread out his items on the floor after he'd made it back to the house that he'd claimed for himself taking stock.

Regulus had been a bit wary about this whole thing. There was a lot about the muggle world he didn't know and it seemed like people like Peter and Klaus and Gwen were all to happy to teach him. Besides, Lupin and Peter both had said he should take his own advice and work on building an actual home there, right?

If something went wrong, he could just let the cat out of the bag so to speak and get out of there if he had to, right?

Klaus' house wasn't too far from his own and after screwing his courage, he went over, knocking gently before coming in and taking his shoes off.

"Hello?" he asked. Somewhere, Sirius had just collapsed on the floor in uproarious laughter at the timidness in his voice.

Klaus was just counting out bags of chips when he heard someone at the door, a quiet sort of voice questioning - yes that sounded just like his would be flirt. "This way," He sing-songed enticing him inside a bit further.

"I'm in here, just going through my new things." He said from the floor where he had a couple different piles working a couple bags of snacks, some drinks, a couple small electronics. "Just look what I've found." He said spreading his arms wide when Regulus came through to find him there sitting on the floor with his finds.

"You know people talk about that door like it's something to be worried about, I don't know why people aren't just running through there making raids every day. This place needs to step it's game up if it's going to improve at all." He said talking quickly as he threw a couple more bags of snacks into one pile off to the side.

"Now come in and sit, we've got lots to try and I want to hear about wherever you're from that all of this is new to you. Because I've done a little time travel and this stuff - it's not that new."

That was all- Well, it looked mostly okay, right? "Peter's other boyfriend makes trips every other day or so from what I hear. Brings back things like soap and medicine and necessities." Peter had shown him some of that stuff, though he still wasn't completely sold on what all of that was for.

He sat down, fairly straight backed. Slouching was one of the many things he was still learning. "London, 1979, but it's not-" He pressed his lips tightly together in thought. "Magic and technology don't co-exist together all that well where I'm from. My brother's seen movies, I think, but he had more exploratory freedom than I did." He shrugged.

"Because every place I spent any significant time was steeped in magic there wasn't anything like this," he gestured to the little communicator in his hand. "Someone brought a radio in once and tried to get it to work and it just exploded." Some muggleborn tried every year to get some kind of their own technology to work at Hogwarts and it always ended badly.

"Other boyfriend," Klaus paused in his sorting to look up interested in that bit of information. "And here I was starting to think the kid was-" He moved a finger through the air in the shape of a square, but if he had two boyfriends that kind of disqualified him from that kind of descriptor.

Klaus didn't press, just continued his work letting Regulus get out what he wanted to say in his own time without hurrying him through it, he was interested of course, but he knew what it could be like to be the center of attention when you felt uncomfortable about it. Ben was like that. He nodded while he explained a little bit more, making the logical jump that Regulus must have been from the magical side of things and not on the technology side, though it sounded like his brother moved back and forth between those worlds.

"You never went anywhere that wasn't all magicked up?" He leaned back on an arm to get a better look at Regulus, who looked uncomfortable there on the floor near him all straight backed and trying to explain how this was new to him. "So you never got to listen to a walkman in the bath?" He lamented, that was just terrible, it was the sort of past time that every young man should enjoy at least once in their life.

"I didn't have that luxury, no."

The man- Klaus had an easy sort of lankiness about him. A fluidity that reminded him a bit of the merfolk whose speech was all grand elegant gestures and never seemed to mind at all how much space they took up above them. He liked that this young man managed somehow to make him feel like it was safe to talk immediately and not be judged for it or rushed or stared at.

"Why would I listen to a man walking in the bath?"

"Guess you're going to have to start trying it out now that you're here." Klaus reasoned. Just because things had been one way in the past didn't mean they had to stay that way. Klaus was proof of that much.

He scoffed when Regulus didn't seem to know about a walkman, it made sense of course but that was besides the point. "Oh no, no, no, no, no." He shook his head, pushing himself up again to rummage through his pile of electronics before he came up with something. "Not a man walking, a walkman." He held up what was the modern equivalent of a walkman, because he'd left his back at the house and well... he was fairly sure it didn't survive the collapse. Or the end of the world.

He pulled up a song, an old favorite and checked to make sure it wasn't too loud before he offered the headphones to Regulus. "Here try this."

He hesitated, visually double checking with Klaus to make sure it was alright. He put the headphones on and closed his eyes, just listening. Like a record player only small and just for him. He understood that much.

There was something different about the instruments, something that sounded...not bad, just far different from what he was used to. A little furrow formed between his brows while he listened.

It was foolishness to think that some muggle women had written a song for him, but that's exactly what it felt like. He very much wasn't used to the idea of being seen like that. He found himself reaching for the other boy's hand in hopes of finding a way to ground himself properly.

Klaus found himself wondering what that would be like, admittedly he didn't know anything about magic, not real magic - people thought what he and his siblings could do was something like magic, but he knew the difference. But to be from a place so different from the one he'd grown up in. He didn't know how he'd have turned out.

While Regulus listened Klaus leaned in close enough to be able to hear just enough so that when he hummed along to the familiar tune he wasn't too far off as he did. His head tipped back and eyes closed as he enjoyed it. This place was too quiet for Klaus so a little music was just what the doctor ordered.

And when he felt Regulus reach out, Klaus let their fingers tangle together and gave him a reassuring squeeze. He didn't know for sure what Regulus was feeling but it was pretty obvious that he was feeling something as he listened. And that was the point wasn't it? You dulled everything you felt with drugs then listened to music to feel something again, at least that was how it worked for Klaus, of course these days he was skipping the first step. At least for the moment. He still wasn't sure how long that would last, but with his spoils maybe he could draw it out a little longer.

He'd felt Klaus close, all warmth and chaos and a low hum that ran down his spine slowly with the music.

He couldn't hear the beating of anyone's heart over the music. He could feel it in Klaus' hand, or imagine he felt it. He was still unmoored by it all. Just not alone.

He squeezed gently. There was definitely some sort of appeal to the idea of doing this in the bath. A private sort of comfort.

The song ended and began to roll into another. The young wizard took off the headphones with his free hand and whispered a soft charm so they could both hear the music Klaus had chosen for them. This place didn't have centuries of magic layered over and over on it. It should be fine, right?

In the bath was one of Klaus' favorite places to listen to music, to just close his eyes and lose himself in the heat and the sound and know that for that little bit of time there was nothing else in the world but this. Ben left him alone when he needed time like that, so it was one of the few times he could feel like he was almost normal, you know in a stoned out of his mind kind of way.

This wasn't bad though, this listening to the quiet hum of music from headphones that weren't actually on your head and the nearness of someone else.

When Regulus took off the headphones Klaus was ready to take them back to talk maybe or something like that but instead he did something, said a spell maybe and suddenly there was music without the need for speakers and Klaus was charmed.

"Okay now that is useful," He laughed, "This music is a little older," He admitted, "But it's classic and it's hard to go wrong with the classics. It's always the kind of stuff we listened to growing up." When they were allowed their free time of course. "New stuff can be good too, but I always go back to the oldies."

"Most of the stuff I listened to didn't have lyrics," he admitted. "When there was music at all." He was sure Sirius had found a way around that one like he had so many other things.

"You could say this was the brand new top hit and I'd have no reason to doubt you."

He wasn't quite ready to let go of his hand just yet.

"I'm picturing like classical music by candle light." Klaus said when Regulus told him what he was more used to, it seemed a little strange that if there was an entirely magical side of the world that they wouldn't have their own brand of music too - you know something other than just straight up instrumentals, but what did he know.

"To anyone who knows this will always be a top hit." Klaus assured Regulus with an easy lopsided grin, his head tilted toward him as he leaned back.

"There's a lot of different kinds of music out there in the world, something for everyone really." He shrugged, "It's all a matter of finding what works for you and then just running with it. "Or you can do like I do and mash them all together and cycle from one genre to the next as your mood likes."

"You're...not far off, honestly. Mother's tastes skewed toward the traditional. We used to have bands and stuff at dances and things, though. And the record players that didn't require electricity worked just fine."

That was a good smile, he decided. Good enough that he felt safe enough to return it with a small one of his own.

He let his shoulders relax properly while the music played, glancing over at some of the other stuff Klaus had brought. "I have a lot to learn, don't I?"

"Yeah? How gothic." Klaus found the idea of it charming in a way, maybe that wasn't exactly how it was in reality but he could enjoy the mental image he'd built. "Horizons are always expanded once you find your way out of your parents' home." Klaus said reasonably - he'd started his rebellion at home, but once he'd moved out things had only gotten more intense from there.

For all his shyness Regulus seemed to be interested in trying some new things at least and there was something to be said about that.

"Only if you want." Klaus shrugged, "My brother Luther, he is loves following the rules. That works for him and the way he sees the world. But Diego, he's gone off on his own, does his own thing, answers to no one - he's kind of a shit, but that works for him too. It's all a matter of finding what works for you." Maybe the Hargreeves weren't the best examples of finding what worked best for anyone, but they were all trying and that had to count for something.

"All the rules I knew don't apply here," he said after a moment of comfortable silence. "Sirius, my brother, he's...he's always been the rebel, always been loud and defiant. Plastering his room with pictures of half naked women and cars and movie posters and things. I think..." He chewed the inside of his cheek.

He'd tested the waters with Lupin and Peter in his own way. Had done his best to find the courage to find a place where his brother could meet him. Figuratively, of course.

"I think he and I are both better out of that house. Like we might have a chance at being brothers instead of prisoners. He's just got a head start on me that's all."

Finally, he let go of Klaus' hand, but only so he could stretch out on the floor and listen properly. He stayed close. Close was good.

"Oh you're his brother," Klaus said delighted, "Now the flirting makes sense." It was a tease mostly, Sirius was cute, as was Regulus in his own way. It sounded a little like they'd had the sort of early life that he and his siblings had, under the roof of a parent who simply did not understand children and demanded things be done in a certain way. Klaus could relate.

He nodded, "Yes, it's the only thing that saved my siblings," He agreed, well all of them but Luther, he hadn't really made it out unscathed. But the rest of them, they'd gotten out, lived their own lives away from the toxic place they'd grown up. Sure Klaus chose his own level of toxicity outside of the Academy, but that was his choice and that's why it was okay.

"It helps," He said when Regulus laid back still listening to the music, with his hand free Klaus rummaged through his piles and found a bag of chips he didn't recognize, it was like the door took him home without it actually being home, it was fascinating. He opened the bag and tried one and then decided he liked them so he offered some to Regulus as well.

"I'm going to choose to take that as a compliment," he said, almost dryly. There was a packet of crisps in front of him. That was distraction enough to keep him from worrying too much about the impression his brother left on anyone.

Sirius was his own man. The people here could see them as separate. There didn't need to be a shadow.

He took a couple crisps. "I'm not sure what these are meant to taste like, but they're not bad."

"Of course, I only ever compliment," Klaus said with a wide teasing sort of grin, but it was actually a compliment for all his teasing. He just hadn't realized the two were related, it was a bit strange but being from a big family Klaus knew how different siblings could be.

He chuckled a little and nodded, "I'm not sure either," Klaus looked at the bag considering it again, it just had the name without a description of flavor, just a bright splash of color, which he guessed was meant to portray a kind of coolness. He didn't really know. "They're not the worst I've ever had."

"So you've really never seen a movie?" He asked, curious about what that must have been like even when they were kids they saw movies occasionally, it wasn't the sort of thing that Reginald approved of but between Pogo and Mom they'd managed to get a little time for fun things too.

"Never." He glanced up at him. "I've seen snippets of things here and there on screens in shop windows and the like. I get the basic concept of it all, but more than that?" He shook his head.

"One of us had to be the perfect son, and you've met Sirius." It was a little bit of teasing. He was learning.

"I just had my first hug a few days ago. That was pretty good. I'm working on being optimistic about things. Sometimes I'm successful."

Klaus tutted when Regulus explained that he'd never seen an actual movie for himself, it was just strange, surely magical people needed entertainment too, or maybe they entertained themselves in other ways, it was hard to say really, but there were certainly ideas swirling around in his head.

"And being perfect meant no movies." He wasn't sure that Sirius came off as quite the rebel that he was accused of being, at least not in the little bit of time that Klaus had spent with him, quick to agree to his cuteness perhaps, but beyond that? He was no rebel without a cause.

"Your first hug a few days ago and you've already graduated to talking intimacies on the net? It sounds like you've just been waiting for the chance to spread your wings." Klaus was delighted by that, everyone just needed to loosen up a little in his experience. Like Luther, he'd gotten laid once and he had been much more improved.

The only response that seemed appropriate was to turn crimson and his face was more than happy to oblige. "Yes, I rather think I've learned my lesson there." Though he was sure some part of Peter found it all hilarious.

Klaus couldn't help but laugh as Regulus went more red than he'd ever even seen Vanya turn when they were young. But you know it was kind of sweet in a way that Klaus might have felt if he was young again.

"That's the big secret no one ever tells you, you know." Klaus said laying back beside Regulus again, "No one ever actually knows everything, not right out the gate - we're all just making it up as we go. Some people, myself included, like to just go all in and let things sort themselves out in the fray, and others like to take their time." He said an arm rising up and over his own body and then back down so that his fingertip pressed right against the tip of Regulus' nose, like they needed the physical reminder of who was taking their time with these sorts of things.

Before this place, Regulus would've definitely turned away from that kind of touch or at least glared at the person until they stopped. Now? Now, he was learning to let himself experience contact that wasn't a prelude to violence of some kind.

He wasn't entirely sold on the idea of Klaus' humanity. Something about the way he moved and occupied space almost felt like he was a dryad of some variety just hiding in a human seeming.

He went to gently nip the other boy's finger, not really fussed if the follow through wasn't there and he ended up just clicking his teeth against air. "I am trying," he said, not the slightest bit defensive.

Admittedly Klaus had very little qualms about personal boundaries, certainly there were none where his family was concerned, but even people he didn't know all that well, so touching and leaning close were all simply things that didn't cross his mind for even a moment that they might be unacceptable. It was just his way. He was just as likely to end up in the lap of a friend as he was to sprawl out on the floor so this was all just natural.

"I'd say you're doing a bit more than trying," Klaus decided a small smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth when Regulus only just missed catching his fingertip between his teeth.

"You just keep taking those steps forward, whether it's telling the entire net about what you do in private or watching movies, or just listening to more of this." He said his fingers wiggling a little with the music that still played as they talked.

There was a little distressed noise of embarrassment as he tried to hide his face in the crook of his own arm.

"The internet was a mistake," he mumbled. "I am never turning that damn thing on again."

He absolutely was going to turn the damn thing on again. He'd just be more likely to keep to himself for the most part.

"What else have you got in your plunder?" he asked, stealing another mystery crisp.
