The village had been fairly quiet the last couple of days...a little too quiet if you asked Rose. It had gotten its own sorta hum after a while, the residents falling into a sort of pattern as each day wore on. But it suddenly seemed like it was suddenly deserted and Rose began to worry. She had reached out to both the Doctors to see if they fancied a trip through the door (what else was there to do when nothing seemed to be happening?), but Thirteen was the only one to respond. She had met her there, at the door, ready to go through and ready for anything. She still wished she had some sort of weapon to protect herself with, but she put her full trust in the Doctor; if they found themselves in a sticky situation, she'd be able to get them out of it.

At least, that's what she thought until she came face-to-face with a Dalek.

"Ex-term-i-nate." Rose slowly took a step back, her hands up in front of her, eyeing the Doctor. "Doctor? What do we do?" She glanced around but didn't see any others that followed. Strange, it looked like they were in hotel? The carpet at least matched that of some kind of upscale type, but she couldn't see anything else other than that. She didn't really want to take her eyes off the threat in front of them.

"Ex-term-i-nate! Ex-term-i-nate!"

Rose frowned when the Doctor only charged $10, but who was she to argue? She was just as pleasantly surprised when the line started to que up behind and she just sat next to the Doctor, smiling for cameras and signing Rose Tyler. The fans didn't seem to mind, they thought it was some kind of cool joke she was doing and made sure to let her know how cool they thought it was.

Rose wasn't sure how long they were sitting there before they finally got their break. But they had a pretty large sum between the two of them and, once again, the Doctor had gotten them exactly what they needed. "Brilliant!" She said, stretching and eyeing the chip cart once more. "Good thing these blokes don't know where the real thing otherwise I just gave my signature to a bunch of strangers!" She laughed, nodding her head towards the food. "C'mon, let's get some food and then we can go shopping for more things! I think I want something with that grumpy Doctor face on it." She grinned, knowing she would probably get all the Ten merchandise she could find. She was surprised he hadn't come along with them, really. This felt like something he would really enjoy.

"Have you seen any other faces you've known?" she asked, glancing at the Doctor once they had their chips. "You know, your other companions?" It was still hard for Rose to think of the Doctor traveling with other people, but 1000+ years was a long time to go alone and she wouldn't wish that on her at all.

The Doctor was friendly and curious, especially when people showed up dressed like her, her other selves, and even her former friends (and some enemies). The little Weeping Angel had been especially unsettling. But when they were done, she was sure they had plenty to spend and happily followed Rose to the chip stand, taking one bag for herself and happily munching on them while they browsed around.

Rose seemed happy, and so was the Doctor, staring around and chewing as Rose went on.

Other companions? The Doctor shook her head. "No. No one but you..." There was a little bit of sadness when she said it, but then she wen ton. "Jan reminds me of one, though! Something about her chipperness. You'd have liked Clara, I think." Clara, the companion she'd forgotten and then remembered. Her Impossible Girl.

"You'd have liked all of them- you met Martha and Donna, yeah?" Wait. Maybe she hadn't. The Doctor made a face. "Unless you haven't, yet. Still tryin' to sort through where we left off."

Rose always enjoyed these chats because she knew the Doctor would always let a little piece slip. Enough that she could tuck it away and put it together with the rest of them at a later time when she was alone. She knew the importance of not knowing too much of the future, but when it came to the Doctor, she couldn't help the curiosity. She wanted to know what her other personas had been like, what sort of companions and people she kept around her. When she had traveled with the Doctor, it was mostly just her, sometimes Mickey or Jack. It was starting to sound like the Doctor was starting to travel with groups now.

She shook her head to Martha and Donna, raising an eyebrow. She knew if she pushed for more information, she wouldn't really get much back, but she just had to be careful. "The last I remember was Bad Wolf Bay." She glanced down at her chips, not really wanting to remember the last time she had seen the Doctor. "Are Martha and Donna other companions then? Future ones?" Must have traveled with her Doctor then if she got to meet them in the future. Gets to? Tenses were tough in all this.

Bad Wolf... Oh, the stories she had about that one. Smiling sadly, Thirteen shrugged a little and considered her answer carefully. "Matha was who I met after you. She knew my 10th face. And so did Donna. You'll meet them, eventually." She smiled.

"After Donna left, I changed again. Then I met Amy and Rory and River- though I technically met River back when I was traveling with Donna. River's....hard to explain. I fell into Amy's backyard, though. Well, the TARDIS did. I knew her as a little girl, then later as a grown woman. Rory was her husband."

She didn't mind sharing these bits. They seemed innocent enough, right?

"Clara was complicated. Very complicated. I kept seeing her throughout my timeline, and it took a while to figure out why. She was sassy and always full of herself. She knew my 11th and 12th faces and then..." There was a quiet pause and the Doctor stopped, staring into space and shaking her head.

"Anyway, then there was Bill- who was brilliant and funny. I liked Bill!" Another sad ending. Her face hadn't really cheered until she got to her current face. "Then I changed again and ran into Ryan, Yaz, and Graham. And here we are!" That was about it. Hopefully, it would hold off Roses's questioning for now.

It had only been a hope that the Doctor would open up about her future endeavors and the people she shared them with, but Rose was pleasantly surprised when she started to tell her about the various companions that came after her. She wasn't sure if it was necessarily jealousy that made a tight knot in her chest or regret. Despite the Doctor's reassurances that she would get to meet Martha and Donna, it sounded like her travels with the Doctor actually had come to a close.

None of her stories seemed to make sense, but that didn't surprise her. The tone in which she spoke of each new friend was tender and bittersweet, sentiments she could only try and understand from her own perspective. Despite her lost hope of being able to travel with him forever, part of her knew that was impossible. Thirteen had even confirmed it, stating that there were a thousand years between her and the Doctor Rose knew so well. Still, she came from a time of hope in finding the Doctor once more, to be able to continue their travels and adventures together. It was just a bit much to come to that realization as the Doctor continued to list the other people who got to travel through time and space with her.

"It sounds like you've had good friends," she said, popping the last chip into her mouth and giving Thirteen, what she hoped, was a genuine smile. "I'm really happy you've had families and friends to travel with you Doctor." She glanced down at her empty chip cup. "I really did want to travel with you forever. I'm sorry I couldn't even give you that."

She realized just realized how much she was prattling on and closed her mouth with a big smile. This face talked a lot. Thirteen knew that about herself. Sometimes it was too much, and usually when she was nervous. Perhaps this convention was getting to her more than even she had initially realized. Or maybe just seeing her past.

"They were." She smiled at Rose, seeing straight through to what the girl was thinking. "You know I can't tell you anything about your future, right? Not because we don't meet again, but because saying too much could have a larger impact when you return to your own timeline."

Though she wondered how much this adventure had already reshaped that. Best not to dwell for now.
