Who: Steve Rogers (mcu) & Jan Van Dyne
What: First meetings and fittings!
When: Backdated to Monday
Where: Van Dyne's
Rating: Low

It was the perfect lazy day. The sun beat down on the cobblestones out in the courtyard and the temperature seemed to be in the perfect nap mode. The town itself seemed fairly quiet, but Jan didn't seem to notice as she practically flew around her new shop, folding a stack of tees on a table, flitting over to the window to open it, enjoying her step into the sunlight before she turned back to her desk, making an adjustment on a new skirt.

She had received the best. Gift. EVER. She wasn't sure who had given it to her, but the sewing machine had been on her nightstand when she had got up that morning and she hadn't questioned. She figured it had been Tony and she'd thank him later, but now! Now she had things to make! Clothes to tailor! GIFTS TO GIVE!

She had lost track of the time by mid-afternoon, but she had been able to customize a new skirt for herself (and maybe Gwen?) and patched up a shirt of Tony's. She was ahead of her tasks, which made her a little sad. Maybe she'd have to advertise again, send out the good news that she had the tools of her trade and now make ANYTHING. Well, so long as she had the supplies.

A shadow crossed in front of the window and she glanced over, doing a double take. She knew that profile...kinda. "Steve!" She flew to the window, growing to her normal height as he turned around. "Hey!" She waved. "Interest you in a new suit soldier?" She grinned as if he were an old friend, not caring that they hadn't talked or interacted before. It was Steve! How could you not fall into an immediate friendship with him?

Even if Steve didn't know everyone, he knew everyone that was there. He'd seen them, seen how they talked or asked about them. He liked to be across that, making sure everyone was somewhat settled here and had what they needed without hovering or making it look like he was trying to tell anyone how to live. When people went out he liked knowing they came back safe, even if they hadn't done more than nod or smile in their travels.

He was cutting across the square to refill the fire wood stack, as he did every day. Steve filled it and people took from it and as long as they were using it it gave him something to do with his time. When he heard his name he looked back over his shoulder, smiling as the woman, Jan, waved to him. "Morning, Jan!" He greeted before he turned back to set down his load.

Steve wiped his hands off on his hands as he headed back to the store window. "A new suit?" He asked as he looked down at himself, yeah he was looking a little scruffy. "Is that what you're busy doing in there?" It was nice to see people making themselves at home, plus Steve loved the smell of coffee that wafted now through the square.

While Tony may have been the brains of this whole operation, Steve was definitely the brawn. She had to admit, they worked well together and she was happy to see that they were able to find how their two pieces meshed together. Maybe America was right, maybe she could concede to a mixture of the two. Starklandia America or something. Not that it would stand for that America, but the one standing in front of her.

She blinked, realizing she might have zoned out for a moment and smiled as Steve made his way over. "You got it! I've been able to find a few replacement garments here and there and!" She glanced around excitedly, bouncing on the balls of her feet. "Guess what?? I got a present!" She stepped back so Steve could see the sewing machine sitting on a table inside. "It was just by my bedside this morning! No note, nothing! But I'd been hoping to find one through the door and 'poof'!" She grinned, almost wondering if this place was magic. Everyone was saying how it didn't feel like Earth!

"Now I can customize and tailor things! No job is too big for Jan Van Dyne!" You would have thought it was her superpower to make sure everyone was clothed with well fitting garments. If Steve and Tony could take care of the city in their own way, so could she!

Steve liked to think he had a little more to offer than brawn to a situation, but was never surprised when people thought maybe he was just good for heavy lifting. After a lifetime of having assumptions made about him that one was the least of his problems. Of course when you compared his brains to that of Tony's, well there wasn't much to compare. You were always better when you took on board the strength of others and Steve enjoyed being part of a team.

As she stepped back and revealed her present he gave a very sincere 'oooo' and 'awwww'. "Well that looks like quite a step up in where you're taking all of this," he said with a nod. Steve could repair his own clothes when he needed to, pretty handy with a needle and thread but actually making things wasn't something in his skillset.

"I could probably just use another tshirt maybe some shorts if there was some going," Steve said honestly. A suit wasn't something that would come in all that handy right now, but a change of clothes wouldn't go astray. "You have anything like that around?"

She couldn't help but beam with pride at Steve's reaction, happy someone could at least appreciate it with her. Fashion didn't seem to be on anyone else's list of priorities, but at least she could offer a refresh on the clothes they were given. She had tried Tony's washing system but preferred to go shopping instead. Could you blame the girl? There was only so much to do in Starklandia and the only form of entertainment was the doorway. Now she had her own form of entertainment and while the town might not call for anything fancy, she could still work on things. You know...just in case!

She shouldn't have been surprised when Steve went the more practical route and she nodded her head. "I've definitely got things like that!" She walked over to the door, opening it for him with a small bow. "Nothing made by me, but if something doesn't fit well, I can always alter it!" She certainly had a passion for dressing people up and dressing an older Steve was like a dream come true. Maybe he'd humor her and let her just try a suit on. Something for a special occasion. She grinned, just thinking about it as she followed him into the store.

"I don't think I've ever seen you in shorts," she said, turning to look at him. It was a strange picture in her mind, but he probably ran hot just like everyone else! "Are we talking like, dad shorts," she placed her hand right above her knee. "Or like, are you feeling braver for something a little more...?" She raised her hand a couple of inches to the middle of her thigh.
