WHO: Regulus Black and Remus Lupin
WHAT: Been a long time coming. Caught in a secret. Shhhhhhhh.
WHERE: The wooded area that likes to past for a forest
WHEN: 4 April
RATING: Low, most likely
After the 'con' (which Regulus had been informed was short for convention and not simply something a giant con-artist put together solely to rid people of their health and sanity,) Regulus needed some time alone and away from people. He didn't regret anything that happened. Aside from the crowds and all the muggle things that he was anxious about accidentally breaking and so many people touching him. Those were all perfectly reasonable things to regret. Peter? Not so much. He did need to spend a little time alone to process all of these things he'd learned about himself.
So to the woods he went, letting himself stretch and climb and get his anxiety out in a way where he actually felt powerful and in control of his own destiny. All sharp teeth and strong muscles and keen senses that his mother couldn't control. The panther was freedom to him. A kind of confidence he couldn't allow himself the luxury of having in his bipedal life. Regulus Black was small and strong, sure, but the only fear he could inspire in anyone was a fear of the silent judgment of a raised eyebrow before he returned to whatever it was he was doing.
He spent some time there in the woods. Not hunting today, just prowling and getting his claws into trees. He had a nice, comfortable nap in the dappled sunlight and when he woke up again he was so very used to not being bothered out there that he didn't check before he leaped gracefully down and turned back into himself. When he looked up, there stood Lupin a few meters in front of him and he realized rather quickly that not only was he caught, but Lupin was upwind in the first place and he should've known to actually open his eyes instead of trusting a cursory scent.
If it was possible for him to get paler, he would have. He froze, half crouched on the ground not at all sure what to do in this situation. Maybe there was a chance Lupin hadn't seen anything at all?
No, not likely.
