Entry tags:galen marek (sw), leia organa

WHO: Galen Marek and Leia Organa.
WHAT: Attempting to cook real food.
WHERE: Leia's house.
WHEN: Thursday early evening.
RATING: R for Ravioli.

This month, has been good. Well, mostly good in all fairness. With the disappearance of Nebula, he lost someone else that he was growing close to in some fashion. Of course, close was something in a vague statement. The pair of them sparred from occasion, and it wasn't anything truly special. Which made him feel a warmth towards the woman for that reason. She was gone now, so it was time to move on.

Speaking of moving on, Starkiller was moving towards Leia's with the cook book that he had gotten for the pair of them to cook out of. The had went through and picked a recipe that looked like it would be something delicious and also easy enough. Spinach ravioli (whatever those were) with something called a pesto cream sauce. Garlic and a whole lot of other ingredients. This was easy. This was going to be simple.

Galen even remembered to get the pasta machine.

Knocking on the door, Galen just let himself in at this point. "I got everything. Between Nyx, Clint, and Peter they had all the things we needed to make this food." Starkiller announced stepping over the prancing Chewie at his feet to meet Leia in the kitchen. Setting the stuff down one at a time out of the bags he carried all the things in, he looked to Leia. Okay, now that he was looking at everything, this was a little more intimidating - not that he'd admit it or admit defeat.

They had, it seemed decided to make good on the slightly alcohol fueled discussion regarding cookbooks and the making of meals and abilities and Leia had even reneged on the demand that Galen be the one responsible for all of it. Mostly because she'd only been teasing him at the time, and also because when they were leafing through the cookbook, the idea of crafting something together that sounded quite delicious seemed kind of fun. Right?

She'd let him choose, because he also insisted he'd wanted to gather what they needed - Leia was quite happy to accommodate, all she'd really had to do was make sure everything was accessible in the kitchen and that she'd poured a couple of glasses of wine. She thought that might be needed.

Indeed he was welcome to come and go as he pleased from her home, and Leia heard him from the other room, meeting him as he set the things down on the counter one by one. "Excellent-" She watched the little puppy pokemon still dancing about Galen's feet, he had become somewhat obsessed with very often here resident, as loyal as he was to Leia. "Don't trip him, Chewie." She grinned. The machine was a surprise and Leia arched her brows in curiosity, examining what he had brought as she slipped over to kiss him in greeting. "My goodness-." She marveled softly, smiling. "This is all for our dinner?" Daunting, but interesting. She left his side to try turning the handle on the little sliver machine.

Ultimately, Galen wasn't sure if he was excited or not, but he knew that he was going to spend any amount of time he was spending with Leia, so that was a win in his books. So having picked out the recipe and having the ingredients was only half the battle.

The small pokemon prancing around his feet backed off just a little bit with the instruction from it's owner. "Yeah..." Galen trailed off looking at everything. "Peter said something like 'good luck' or something." Galen shrugged ultimately because he wasn't all that concerned about their ravioli making adventure. "He also said that the," Galen tapped the machine lightly. "Machine would likely help us make the pasta and make it easier."

Taking up one of the glasses of wine sipping on it, Galen looked to Leia. "Are you intimidated yet?"

“Good luck?” Leia made a dubious sort of dismissive sound. “I bet he’s just trying to mess around- ..you know?” He seemed like the sort to do that, wind them up about something as simple as dinner.

Intimidated? "How hard can it be? We ..just follow the instructions. We can do that, these books are written for people to learn from.” Leia decided without hesitation, taking her glass up for a sip too before she reached for the book with her free hand and flipped it open on the counter starting to turn the pages slowly, browsing with her head slightly tilted. “Which one is it?” So perhaps the machine did make it seem a little more complex than you chop the thing up and you throw it in the pan, or oven - but they could do this. Right? Even if it was a little more gourmet than they had previously attempted.

“Guess we’d better get started so we’d not eating too late.” She mused, trying to sound flippant, when really she was starting to think it would take them a touch longer than the book might otherwise promise.

This woman, really was a woman after his own heart. The sound she had made was very similar to the one he had conveyed right to the Alpha Peter's face, and that was that really. "Well, when we finish this food, we will bring him some and make him literally choke on them." Galen proclaimed as factual.

Nodding, Starkiller was in agreement. "This will be fine." Setting the wine down, Galen politely took the book and opened to the appropriate page and tapped his finger on it. "This one. Whatever ravioli are, it looks like you stuff a pasta like this." He suggested while pointing at the only picture of a ravioli cut in half on a plate. "Kriff. We got this." Galen decided as factual.

With that, Galen rolled his sleeves up and started preparing following the directions the best he understood.

Leia did laugh at first, for a second there she thought bringing Clint some food rather victoriously simply so he could be proven wrong for being too cocky sounded like an excellent suggestion. Until the end there. “No literal choking.” Leia ended that one decisively, with a slight look. They could certainly bring Clint the food he doubted they’d make, but they weren’t going to nearly murder him with it.

She did the same, washing her hands and such, her blouse only had short sleeves so no need to further prepare for that.

“Stuffed pasta- right. We’ve got this.” She agreed, amused by his words enough to repeat them. Just a tiny slip of confidence, but that was fine. It was new, and stuffed pasta did ..sound a little more of a complicated food than other things, but that was alright, they’d navigate the directions slowly. She leaned in to read through what they’d need to do and how - though she didn’t read too far ahead. “How about one of us putting the dough together, and the other can do the filling?” Leia suggested before Galen could get too far into whatever he was thinking he'd do first, before she went to fetch a couple of mixing bowls and implements to ..well, mix? Before examining a tub of ricotta, she wasn’t certain she had things to measure out cups accurately and such, or weights for that matter.

Galen considered her words for a moment on the not choking literally, and there was a pang of true disappointment on that, but he wasn't going to actually choke the man. He actually, and honestly liked the two men. Regardless, bringing the two men some what they made to show they could do it, and also as a thank you was the appropriate thing.

Nodding his head in agreement, Galen moved to work on the dough.

Looking at the ingredients, Starkiller moved with the flour and eggs. Attempting his best to follow the directions, Galen started to mix the the ingredients. It said use a mixer, and well they didn't have anything to mix it with but their own strength of arms so that's what Galen did. Wooden spoon in hand, he went to town on mixing the dough which was - difficult at best. Sticky and tough to get mixed thoroughly. There was a consideration at this moment where he thought, just maybe, he picked the wrong recipe... not that he was giving up in the slightest.

“I’ll take that as a non-verbal agreement.” Leia teased softly to the choking people on their own smugness, in the form of pasta decree.

Sharing the book wasn’t impossible, but there was a lot of leaning in, and trying to avoid getting in one another’s way as they eyeballed their own instructions, one for the dough aspect, and the other the filling. Leia’s didn’t seem so difficult, but the mixture of the ricotta cheese and the dripping, defrosting spinach didn’t look so appealing as she tried to combine them - perhaps the spinach was ..still too frozen.

“Is it meant to be like that?” Leia asked as she watched Galen struggling with what looked like an exceptionally glue-like-sort of doughy substance. Her tone wasn’t critical as such, maybe just surprised, or rather confused at this point because their efforts on both parts seemed to already be unraveling as she stabbed at the spinach block with her wooden spoon, trying to break it up. The book didn’t say anything about frozen, but that might’ve been all that could be acquired for them in time.
