Had a past was a thing to call it. How did you bring up in casual conversation that you were part of a mutant terrorcell called The Brotherhood and that you and your friends tried to kill political figures and steal all sorts of things - oh and you can control fire with your mind. No biggie. That was John's biggest thing. Of course, with the dwindling number of people in town that knew him and his past, it was easier to avoid the whole criminal conversation.
Regardless, whatever this was panning out to be, whether it panned out to anything or not - barring magical rose petals interferring, John was in no rush to do anything. Disinterest in the whole rebound girl thing, and more focused on enjoying time with someone while he mourned, that was where his interests were falling. Which Beverly was a lot of fun to be around, and admittedly... the kissing was nice too.
"It's pretty great." Confirmed while they crossed the street to make their way into the department store. Once inside it was exactly how he imagined it was during the time. Letting Beverly focus on what they were looking for, John took in the sights and the styles before bringing his attention back to Beverly. "Wha? Oh! Right! Yes." He laughed. "Home goods should do it." Another laugh. "Maybe a set of curtains that are three generations out of style." He teased while they made their way.
"I'm not gunning for one thing or the other, honestly, so I am happy to carry your bags." He smirked a knowing smile.
