WHO: Sirius Black & Augustus GloopRemus Lupin
WHAT: Date through the doors!
WHERE: CHOCOLATE WORLD! (Yes it's a real place)
WHEN: Operational business hours. February 27.
RATING: C for CHOCOLATE OVERLOAD

One of the requirements of being a Marauder was to have a sense of adventure. Maybe that was why Remus wasn't really ever afraid of going through the doors. So long as he and Sirius went together, anyway. Because if something went wrong and they were trapped, at least they'd be together. He did worry when Sirius went without him, but he also wasn't going to stifle by telling him not to go. Today, however, they were going on a bit of a date. Where they'd end up remained to be seen, but that was part of that adventure they both loved so much.

It was a year to the day that Remus had arrived in Starklandia, a year to the day that he and Sirius had begun this journey together in a bizarre parallel world that somehow really worked well for the two of them. It seemed cliché but fitting to go on a date. They didn't necessarily need a special occasion to do something like this together but it added to the specialness of it, so that was nice.

"If we open the door and end up in a haunted hotel or flesh eating monsters, I'll be highly disappointed," he said as they walked into the mysterious house. His fingers were laced with Sirius', but not completely still. Their fingers tended to play little games, lacing and unlacing, squeezing and caressing each other's hands. It was that whole Sirius-being-incapable-of-staying-still thing, and Remus loved it.

It had been a year, hadn't it? The time had practically flown by, which Sirius thought was pretty wild, considering that it hadn't felt that long at all. Time flies when you were having fun -- that was the Muggle saying, wasn't it? And despite how small this little town could be, how sometimes sleepy, Sirius was having fun. A hell of a lot more fun than they'd be having back home, he knew that much for sure. That way lead to only heartbreak and death and while he occasionally felt bad for not wanting to go home and trying to fix things --

Well. They were here and he didn't have much say in the matter, anyway. Even if he did, he liked this. Here. With Remus.

He was doing this thing where he would hold all of Remus' hand, and then drop off by a finger at a time until he was only holding one finger, and then he would add one back on until it was his whole hand again -- and then he'd repeat the process. It was a good fidget, even if to anyone who wasn't Remus, it'd probably be annoying.

"Dunno," he said, reaching for the first door they came across to open it, "I'd maybe like a good fight." Because of course he would. But when he opened it, it was like the universes were all aligned and in the favor of these two particular Marauders because what they was was not ghosts or flesh eating monsters, but instead a brightly colored room with giant displays of chocolate bars all over. "Oh, Remus," he said in awe, eyebrows lifting.

Remus was having fun. More fun than he ever expected to have again given where he'd come from. There was a part of him that sometimes still felt guilty, and still had him staring off at nothing every great once in a while, because he thought maybe he ought to be trying to find a way back to where he'd come from. But that part of him was much smaller now, less frequent to surface. There were no guarantees in life. Remus had learned that a very, very long time ago as a small boy bitten by a werewolf. He'd seen it first hand when his best friends were murdered, the love of his life thrown in prison, and he was left utterly alone. Now he was here, in this strange world, and had been living a beautiful life with the same love of his life (just younger), and he'd learned to stop feeling bad about that. Because even if they could go home, there was no guarantee they'd retain what they'd learned here, and if that was the case then Remus would be right back where he was, with no proof of Sirius' innocence.

So that meant they had to seize the day, or something. Cherish what they had and enjoy it because it wasn't guaranteed tomorrow. Maybe a little bit guaranteed. Some of them had been in town for a year. Chances were they'd still be there tomorrow. But, the sentiment remained valid.

Remus liked the hand thing. He liked any little quirky fidgety thing Sirius did around him because he knew part of it revolved around wanting his attention. So he followed along, shifting and bending his fingers when he needed too. Ah, how he loved him so.

When the door opened, Remus certainly wasn't expecting what they were faced with. His eyes immediately took in the wall to wall chocolate bars and sweets. It wasn't very often that Remus Lupin was left dumbfounded. Mark it down, folks, he was actually stunned into stupidity. "Wha.. How.. Where--" His gaze landed upon a sign that actually said they were in Chocolate World. No more hand fidgety game. Remus clutched Sirius' hand and pulled him through into the room. "I .. I don't know.. where to start?"

It was pretty fair that as soon as the wall to wall chocolate came into view, their little hand fidgeting game stopped, because Remus was pretty busy pulling Sirius through the door and it was most certainly time to get down to business.

Although Remus had a point. It was very hard to get down to business when the entire room was real chocolate or display chocolate or something. Knowing where to start would be something of a challenge. Really, Sirius figured it probably wouldn't matter in the long run so long as they left with their pockets full, but that was later and not in the immediate. "Well," he said, bumping shoulders with Remus once they came to a stop and had just been looking around like idiots in awe for a few minutes. "Says there's...a tour. Should we learn the ways of chocolate, Moony?"

It was most definitely time to get down to business. The business of chocolate. There were a great many things that Remus was passionate about, and chocolate was probably the most frivolous. It was definitely the most frivolous. But other than the bloke standing beside him it was the thing he loved most in the world and it always made him feel better, or just heightened the good mood he was already in when he ate it.

In the grand scheme of things, yes, as long as they left with as much chocolate as they could possibly bring back with them it would be considered a successful venture. But right now he was trying to figure out how to even know what all he should bring back. Some of everything? Or a lot of the best thing? But first, a tour.

"It looks to be some sort of ride. Yes, let's have a go," he said, grinning wildly in excitement. "C'mon, Padfoot." He tugged his hand and headed over to where they were loading Muggles onto the ride.

Sirius loved frivolity and would partake in it whenever at all possible. He liked collecting things (records, random cute toys he found on his ventures, kind of recently he'd gotten into coffee cups that said funny things, clothing - merlin so much clothing) and he was a pretty big fan of trying new snacks and things -- so it wasn't like he didn't both understand and encourage Remus when he decided there were things that he liked that while he might be able to live without, still very much wanted. Remus should definitely have those things.

And, he figured, they should take a lot of everything, but also a lot of things they knew they would like best. Sirius was a fan of milk chocolate, and was also incredibly keen on anything that had marshmallow in it as well, so he'd be on the lookout.

"A whole ride about chocolate," Sirius said, in some amount of wonder. It never really stopped surprising him, the things Muggles did. Because sometimes it was so silly, but other times so wholly necessary it was really a disappointment that wizards hadn't thought of it first. "We didn't we ever have a chocolate ride?" He wondered even as he nabbed a colorful seat, dragging Remus with him.

Remus was very familiar with all the things that Sirius had begun gathering. The coffee cups, he really liked. Remus loved a clever pun, so he drank from them often with a good chuckle after selecting one. They did have an abundance of clothing. That's what happened when Sirius' best mate ran the clothing shop. Remus had his fair share of cardigan jumpers and loads of mismatched socks.

Senses heightened, the scent of chocolate was invading his nostrils rapidly. Remus was pretty sure his pupils were blown from euphoria. He couldn't believe there was an actual ride revolving around the production of chocolate but he was absolutely there for it. He got in right next to Sirius and soon they were being taken on a ride that showed them all sorts of things. Vats of chocolate being mixed, processed, and wrapped were all on display while a cheerful song and voice overhead spoke about what was happening. "I want to dive into that right now," he said as he watched the chocolate churning. "Or take a straw to it."

They both had plenty of clothes these days -- a big difference from when they'd shown up (Sirius, a few days before Remus) with only what they'd had on their backs. Now there were tons of options - Sirius had several leather jackets. But he still liked that button up shirt with the little stars on it that Remus had best.

The ride was fun and probably fairly informational, but Sirius was only half paying attention to it, more of his focus on Remus and the way that he was just barely keeping it together enough to be appropriate. It was a mixture of adorable and incredibly attractive. "S'pose no one could stop you if you did dive in," he said, tapping at his chin with a finger. "Might ruin the rest of the tour, but you couldn't say you didn't get a free sample anyway."

Remus did love that shirt. His not so subtle way of repping his soulmate in his everyday attire. He didn't just save it for special occasions. He especially liked to wear it because he knew it made Sirius smile so much. Not to mention, it was just a comfy shirt and it fit him well. And he had to admit, he liked having more clothing these days. Back where he came from there wasn't much to choose from. Mostly worn, tattered jumpers and pants that were to big for his lean frame. Here he had more than enough clothes. And Merlin's beard, he liked Sirius in a leather jacket.

Mostly what Remus liked beyond learning the ins and outs of processing chocolate from solid to liquid to solid again, was the smell. The aroma of chocolate being melted and reformed was heavenly. The only thing he liked more was Sirius' scent in general. "It would be a bit of a mess, wouldn't it. Alas, but I do believe they said we'd get a free sample of something at the end of the ride." And sure enough, the did. Some sort of new product they were testing on an audience by giving free samples. Remus immediately opened his and ate it. Not as good as a truffle. There was some sort of krispie rice in it? It was a weird texture but not unenjoyable. "Did I see there was some sort of Muggle film?" He asked, even though he knew that yes, he did. "Could we see when it's playing? Perhaps they'll have some sort of treat to enjoy during the viewing."

Maybe that was the best thing about that shirt - that Remus just wore it whenever. Random Tuesdays and whenever else, just because he felt like it. It never didn't make Sirius smile -and, yeah okay, also do a bit of touching.

It did smell good in here and Sirius was pretty tempted to touch more things than he was meant to, but he contented himself with the sample at the end too -- rather enjoying the crunch of the chocolate. There was something nice about the texture, he thought. Truffles were more Remus' thing, anyway.

"Definitely the film next," he decided, although he was eying up the wall of chocolate to buy, too. "It probably shows all day, yeah? Can't be too long until the next one."

It would've been a lie to say he didn't enjoy the attention he received from Sirius on any given day, but especially when he noticed the shirt Remus wore for him. He loved the touching bit but he especially loved the smiles. It was subtle, just a little thing Remus would do to express his love without having to say a word.

"I hope so," Remus said. He enjoyed a good Muggle film, and what could be better than a film about chocolate? For Remus, very little else. Hands finding their way back in each other's company, they resumed their little game of lacing and unlacing fingers while they made their way to the little theater where they were given bizarre specs to put on their faces. "This is a bit odd, isn't it?" Remus had no idea what 4D would entail, but it sounded quite advanced for Muggle technology. "I don't know how you can put on something as ridiculous as these specs and still look devastatingly handsome," he said as they sat down.

There were probably a lot of films that were better than being about chocolate, but they were most certainly in the sort of place where the theme seemed rather important. So it'd probably be fun and maybe even good. Sirius had high hopes, despite the fact that the target audience did seem to be for muggles on the .... younger spectrum.

"I don't know how I can either," Sirius said, putting the specs on and then taking them off again with a considering sort of frown. They were ridiculous and they made things a little fuzzy when he looked through them -- which seemed to be the opposite point of glasses from what he understood (either that, or James was an idiot). Even Sirius wasn't sure he could pull the look off, what with how clunky they were. "Will you still love me if I look an idiot?"
