WHO: Peter & Mr. Rogers WHAT: Training, mayhaps? WHERE: Steve's Gym WHEN: Today RATING: G for General Awkwardness
Peter's been here what, four months now? Time really flies when you're, you know, dead and then poof! Surprise! You're not! It's a whole thing. No, he doesn't think he wants to talk about it. The point is, he'd been recouping long enough that the guilt had started to creep its way back in. Yeah, that probably shouldn't be a motivating factor in his life, but you didn't get into the heroing business because you were a healthy, well-adjusted person, right? Either way, all that remains of the battle with Thanos is the phantom twitch in his side that Peter was pretty sure was psychosomatic. Like, 60-40 it wasn't real. It was just how these things went, sometimes. He'd been making new web fluid - it wasn't quite as strong as his usual stuff, and he had to be sparing about using it, but it wasn't half bad for a sub-standard homebrew. He'd been talking plenty with Harry about tech upgrades, and it just - well, it was a nice way to ease back into everything, after the shitshow he'd been through.
But now there he is, standing outside of Steve's gym. Mr. Rogers. Captain. Peter wasn't sure what to call him, honestly. He knew that Steve knew what happened - that he was there, at the battle, too, in a way the Tony here hasn't been, yet - but they didn't exactly have time to shake hands on the battlefield. And before that, well. That was a whole thing, too. Since Peter arrived, though, they haven't crossed paths much, despite living in the same house. Most of that was Peter's doing, he'll admit. He just didn't want to intrude, you know? And it felt an awful lot like intruding, when the people here weren't the same ones he knew, how there were people here who seemed to see another version of him when they looked at him. Not to mention old-as-dirt Pete - he wasn't going to get into it, point made.
But he was here now, psyching himself up to go inside and talk to Steve about training. He didn't want to ask Tony, and bring it up unnecessarily...but Steve was there. Surely he'd understand why Peter was asking. Peter took a deep breath, squared his shoulders, and entered the building.
