WHO: Pyro and Peter Quill
WHAT: Space Bar? Space bar. There might be a space tiger.
WHERE: SPACE.
WHEN: Wednesday, Feb 12

Despite the fact that he didn’t often seem like he did, Quill did pay attention to the things going on around him pretty much all the time. He knew John was having a hard time without Kitty around — of course he was. Quill would be having a shit time without Gamora too, so he got it.

But. Well, he was a good sort of friend, he figured, so when John had moped around in his house for a few too many days in a row, Peter kind of figured it was time to try and fix it a little. Change the mood some. So he’d poked and prodded at his pal until he’d finally, grudgingly, agreed to come out with him.

The doors were always something of a gamble, but he’d opened and closed them enough until he found something suiting — a bar that was like the kind that he used to go to, back when he was roaming the universe. So, really, a space bar.

It was a fucking good one too — lively and with a lot of things out of the norm to stare at, and odd colored drinks to drink and wonder about the taste over. Beer wouldn’t do it, not when they could be having foreign fruit flavors.

“See?” He was saying, already a few sheets to the wind and not bothering trying to hide it. “This is good. Worth it.”

Nope. John wasn't feeling any of this. Not in the slightest. Honestly, he was happy bonding with Lockheed who was just as lost as he was now that Kitty was gone, and eating like a dumpster fire. He still cared for his Pokemon. All four of them. What was he and Kitty thinking, honestly? Regardless, he wasn't about to put any of them out at this point, because he loved all of them.

So when Quill appeared at his door, and in his house thanks to one of the Squirtles who actually loved hanging out with Quill, he was being bothered and pestered by the man.

And a thing about Quill - he was going to get his way if he had to annoy you to death. Which led to the doors, and the bar, and the space.

Sucking down some strange pink liquor, John grumbled into the glass before speaking something that seemed understandable. "Fuck you." He drank more, because of course he was equally bounding down the lane of intoxication. "But thanks." He muttered. "But most of all, fuck you..."

"I don't think Gamora would like that very much," Peter pointed out, as if that was the only flaw in John's "suggestion". It wasn't, not really, but it was the joke here that mattered the most. Obviously.

He took another drink of his bright blue concoction and leaned back in his chair thoughtfully. He didn't really want to talk about Kitty -- it was a rough subject and there'd be no consoling John on the matter. After all, Peter had been a ruin, a wreck, when he'd thought Gamora was dead. He'd been one of the main causes for the death of half the entire universe because he'd flown so off the handle. It -- wasn't his place to say anything in this matter, not unless John really wanted to talk about it.

Instead, he frowned and said: "Hey. Is that a tiger?"

John immediately scrunched his face at the other man. "You're not pretty enough." He stated firmly as if the conversation was obviously going down that path without hesitation. Of course, it was the joke that mattered. Obviously.

Turning his head to follow where Peter was looking. It sure the fuck was a tiger - it was also sure the fuck wearing a space helmet. "It sure is." John commented. Like seriously? How did it eat? Drink? Or all those other things. "How'd they get a helmet on it?" John questioned loudly, as if that was the biggest thing wrong with the picture.

John leaned on the table and stared at the tiger, drinking on his drink, because that was the perfect response to the space tiger.

"I'm more than pretty enough," Quill said, sniffing slightly, like he was vaguely offended that John didn't think so. But all that really mattered in terms of his looks was that Gamora thought he was -- and she did. She even said so sometimes. Usually followed by telling him how soft and also pink he was. He dug it.

But then they were both staring like idiots at that space tiger with its inexplicable space helmet, and it was a good question John posed. How had they gotten it on the thing? And how did it eat? Was it a real tiger, or something that just looked like one? "I wonder if it talks," he said after a long, curious beat where all he could do was drink and keep on looking.

And then: "I want one."

"If an ape is pretty, then I might believe that." John countered coolly. "You're just like this goofy, dancing..." He paused thinking. "Neanderthal." He laughed obviously enjoying his bit of joke at Quills expense. Though the laugh was short lived and he grew silent.

"I miss her man.." John whispered into his drink, then drained his glass.

But the tiger was a worthy distraction. All the things about it was really curious. Quill's internal questions were exactly the same as John's and with his question about it talking - his eyes went wide. "Whooooaaaa." Blinking at the man he quickly looked to the tiger. "You think it can? Is that possible?" Of course it was. Quill was first to tell you one of his best mates was a raccoon.

"Nah man," John said staring at it a moment longer before snapping his head to Quill. "We're taking that one." It might have been the liquor talking, but, it was a great idea!

"Wow, mean," Peter said, but didn't sound all that hurt about it. This was just the way the two of them were -- making shitty jokes at each other's expense and then carrying on, no one's feelings really getting hurt at all. It was a thing.

"I know," Quill replied, just as quiet, because he did. And he felt bad about it, he really did. Kitty was a really cool lady, and they'd been good for each other. And it fucking sucked that wasn't the case anymore. But there was nothing to do about it beyond be sad and ... see where that took them, he supposed.

He drained his glass too, and then gestured for two more, because fuck if they weren't carrying each other back through the doors today. "It's totally possible," he said, because one of his best friends was a raccoon. He'd also met a talking duck, once. It was just a thing in space, okay?

He paused, considering the Tiger and it's helmet and all that. "Are we?" He asked, eyebrows raising. It had been a while since he'd stolen something worth stealing that wasn't just town supplies. He kind of missed it. "We are," he repeated, and it wasn't a question this time.

Pyro shrugged. "I'm a villain. It's to be expected." Of course, if he wasn't careful himself, Peter would be just as eager to knockout a soft pitch and rip into him. They bonded, and both knew it was harmless.

It wasn't like John didn't believe that Peter understood to some degree. To his understanding, he had lost Gamora in his timeline and that it was while here he got her back - so he knew the feeling of loss, but John would have been lying if he wasn't happy she was able to back to where she came from. This place, well not the space bar, but Starklandia was confined and Kitty still had so much good to do back in her world. Kitty needed to do good back where she came from. So John would sulk and drink with Peter.

Oh, and steal a wicked space tiger.

Nodding his head at Peter as it was confirmed, John watched the tiger sit so nice where it was. "It's so well behaved.." John muttered as their drinks showed up. "We'll watch - and make our move." John declared, sucking down more strange liquor that was likely going to leave him with a pounding headache in the morning. Thinking about it, when was the last time John did the Pyro thing and stole for the sake of stealing something not for town supplies in some regard. This was going to be fun.

"No one calls themselves a villain, dude. That's just weird." Even bad people usually just did bad shit for reasons they considered were good. Not that that made it okay, obviously, but still. Whatever. Peter'd let John have this one, only because he was having a bad time of it.

He picked up his drink again, but didn't really go so far as to drink it, so much as just hold is as he considered the logistics of Space Tiger Theft. Gamora was going to be unimpressed. That was probably fine though. "Who owns it, do you think?" He asked, squinting at the crowd near said stripe-y cat.

"Says a Guardian of a galaxy." John teased. Though he did partially. It was more of an outside look at his prior life. The things he did, not that he really regretted said items but more the things that happened were obvious that a response was required. Regardless, John wasn't overly interested in talking about that.

Not when there were space tigers to be stolen.

Through a burp, John shook his head. "I've been watching, and the tiger is just all on it's own. I have yet to see anyone walking up to the tiger." At all. Not a single person. "So.. maybe it's alone." Looking to Peter he nudged him. "It'd be irresponsible to leave it there alone. Obviously we have to find it's owner?" Picking up his drink Pyro started to move to get a closer look.

This was obviously important.

Quill only shrugged. "Before that I was a thief for a band of space pirates." Point was, it wasn't like he'd ever considered himself bad. He was just doing bad stuff for the good cause of filling his own pockets, was all.

But anyway yeah, they had more important shit to be doing. Like casually watching that tiger for a bit longer before getting up and going to see if it had an owner nearby.

So far as Peter could tell, it was, you know. Just kind of a domesticated space tiger. It didn't talk or anything weird and when Peter chanced a look around before petting it, it didn't seem to try biting the inside of its helmet or anything. "Well," he said after a moment.

"Yoho, matey." John teased with a coy grin. Ultimately, John was no moral compass and wouldn't even start pretending to be one. It wasn't going to start now, that was for sure.

Being next to this tiger who probably cared very little about their company, which was just like any normal house cat, was odd. "Yo.. I never been this close to a tiger as this... especially with now glass between me and it." John mentioned also petting the big ole cat.

There was a rumble, and John leaned in and shot back. "It's fucking purring man."

It was fucking purring, man. Quill melted a little, because space tigers were apparently just really big fucking cats and the purr was the kind that made the animal actually kinda vibrate. Very cute. Must have, 10/10.

Gamora was going to give him such looks later.

In the end though, it was pretty easy stealing that tiger. All it really took was... well. Not at all discreetly leading it out of the Space Bar and back toward the door.

And just like that, they now possessed a new member of Starklandia. A tiger. A tiger with a space helmet. A space tiger obviously. John still had his glass in his hand while they were walking out of the Space Bar.

"So. Was that too easy?" John drank on his glass looking at the tiger. "Like, it just sort of came with us." So easy John was almost skeptical but really he didn't care.

It was a big ole purring cat of a space tiger and it was coming home with them. "What do you think it's name is. Fluffy?" John started laughing before the tiger looked and growled right at him - which made him jump out of his skin and drop his drink startled. "Fuck."

"I dont think his name is Fully," Peter countered with a crooked sort of smile when the Tiger decided to put his paw down on that nonsense. "We'll figure it out. HE's probably got one. Or'll find one he likes. Right?" He asked the Tiger who was, apparently, trying to look rather mysterious and proud as he followed along after him and John.

So cool. And it was too easy. Or maybe they were both just idiots when they were bold and drunk and had managed escaping danger simply by not noticing it. Either way, they landed through the doors and back into Starklandia with a new Space Tiger and two new glasses for drinking. All in all, a pretty solid haul.
