WHO: Everyone who wants to drown their sorrows or something
WHAT: Getting drunk about it
WHERE: The Spider-Web
WHEN: Today

Sure waking up to find that he was for some reason attached to a wizard nearly half his age hadn't been on the top ten best ways to start his day list that Peter most certainly did not keep somewhere in the back of his mind, it hadn't actually been on the top ten worst ways to start his day list either. So that was something to consider. Not that it made it any easier to deal with knowing that for some strange reason he found himself tethered to Sirius, things had gotten very strange very quickly, and considering his history with strange well - Peter thought he was handling the whole thing admirably.

Tonight though, well they were at the bar, because even tied together like this people still needed to eat and Peter wasn't about to just throw all of this away because he was mildly inconvenienced. So he was doing his best, passing out drinks and making food and hoping that at the very least, they could all just spend a little time there that evening and pretend like things weren't entirely fucked.

"Nothing like a couple of drinks and something good to eat to at least help make you feel like things aren't quite as bad as they might seem." And certainly he'd lucked out he thought, but like John had said, things could always be worse.

[It's another party thread people, use your headers and have fun!]

Gwen definitely was missing her best friend. It was fun being around Bill and getting to know him better, and she liked that they were becoming fast friends. But no one could replace Sirius. He was one of a kind and she loved him a lot. It was easy to find time to spend together when they were on their own, but it was harder being tethered to someone. You had to sort of find a balance between the two of you to keep up your own routine. Adding other people into the mix who were also doing that exact same thing was terribly difficult.

But Sirius was at the bar, and so was Gwen. So that meant they'd see each other. And thank fucking goodness because she was really needing that hug from her best pal. Gwen hugged him back tightly and didn't let go throughout the whining. "Terribly bored, I imagine," she said. "Aw. You miss me." She grinned and gave his cheek a peck. Slowly, she let go but did reach up to give his hair a little pet. "It's been so quiet without band practice. We've got so much jamming to do."

It was difficult. Even when the other person being missed didn't have a tether-hanger-on, it was hard really getting the proper time or place to see them. Remus wasn't attached to anyone, but it just felt strange having him around a ton when Peter had to be so close by without another option.

Personal boundaries: Sirius had learned a lot about them this week. And he hated it.

Gwen still gave some of the very best hugs though, and Sirius was happy to keep it going. "So bored," he agreed. "What's the point of guitar without drums? And we can't even been able to go to that guys' trampoline park together. This week is a proper wash, is what it is. Wotcher, though?"

It really was a difficult balance, as she'd both experienced and observed. Trying to cater to someone else's needs while also filling your own, and trying to get everything done while being mindful of your tethered partner's schedule -- there just weren't enough hours in the day. Gwen and Bill had struck up a decent balance but it didn't really leave a lot of options to socialization.

"Bill's great, but the lack of you in my life lately has taken a lot of the excitement out of things," she said. Sirius always made everything a million times more fun. "I've been okay. Checked on Remus a few times for you and you'll be pleased to know he's been privately pining away for you." She grinned a bit. "You drinking tonight, or strictly working?"

It was true -- the irony of being stuck with someone else is that they, somehow, got to see a lot less people a day. Sirius wasn't keen on that, if only because he was the sort to always want to be overly social. But it wasn't any kind of kindness to make Peter run around with him while Sirius wanted to demand hair petting and loud music.

"We're going to have to make up for it when it all sorts out," Sirius said, because he did believe that it'd sort eventually. Things like these always seemed to, be it random sickness or adults running around as children instead. It was simply a matter of time. Which didn't make now better, but still was something to look forward to he supposed. "Did you?" He asked, touched and charmed. "Moony will always say he's doing fine, but I don't believe it. Good on you. And pfft. What's the point of working a bar if you don't drink?" He asked, eyebrows waggling. "You want a new drink?"

If nothing else, this whole experience was a reminder of how much she enjoyed her life in town and doing the things she was doing before. Spending time with her best friend, getting the Basic White Girl special at COFFEE everyday, tinkering around in the workshop with Tony, learning how to hit punching bags properly with Steve. Family dinners. Drum sessions. Pizza with Peter B. She had to compromise on those things now. And it wasn't even that she thought Bill would tell her she couldn't do any or all of those things because he was really nice. She just couldn't expect that she could, and they had to meet in the middle. That was how everyone was coping with this new situation, it seemed.

It definitely had to sort out. Most turn of events type situations around this place weren't permanent. She'd been a child for a while and then grew back up. Surely she'd wake up one morning and Bill would be back in his own house and everything would be back to the way it was.

"I was hoping you'd say that," she said with a grin. "Make me whatever you're having. We'll toast to things sorting out."

Hopefully their views were optimistic as opposed to naive. Sirius was meant to know better -- at least based on the future that he hadn't yet lived, to know that all things didn't always end up any kind of good just because he wanted them to. But this didn't seem like too much to ask for and they had proof that things had been normal in the past.

So.

Well. They'd get where they wanted to be eventually, Sirius was sure of it.

"On Sirius Special, coming right up," he grinned, waggling his wand in the direction of the bar. Sirius was a fine bartender.
