Tony supposed that could be true for all of them in some way or another - they were heroes after all, and yeah maybe he liked to bask in that from time to time but he was still just Tony at the end of the day, just like Steve was just Steve. Whether he was this version or the one from school.
"I just-" He paused and huffed softly, looking away from Steve for a moment. "I don't know why he'd think that about me." Because at the end of the day he was still Steve Rogers, he was leagues above Tony as far as things like that went. Not that Tony would ever say something like that out loud of course, but the thought of it was there rolling around coiling and dark in the back of his mind. Steve was way too good to be scared of someone like him.
It was a surreal conversation to be part of, Steve telling him these things about Steve, and Tony was fairly certain he was going to be obsessing over this for a long time to come. Which really was just perfect, like he didn't already think too much whenever he talked to Steve, now he'd have this conversation playing in his head whenever they interacted as well.
