Reddie
"He could be." Eddie pointed out because, well, he could be. He doubted Richie had asked Dick his age. Eddie hadn't asked Sirius, Remus, or Tony their ages. He just knew they were younger than him. When he was smaller, he knew that Sirius was older than him but his age hadn't mattered. He looked like an adult but he'd been an adult who was willing to talk to him and help him when he asked for it. He was willing to make them a hammock and, most importantly, he was willing to talk to Eddie about his mother, his fears, and the feelings he had for Richie. He'd been the first adult (or near adult) to tell him that his mother was wrong and it was okay to feel the way he felt about his best friend regardless of whether or not that best friend was also a boy. Even now, that little pep talk mattered more and had cemented Sirius place in Eddie's life as someone he could talk to and trust regardless of his age. He was family.
He was drawn out of his teasing by Richie fumbling through his pocket. Eddie frowned a little unimpressed though not entirely sure what his boyfriend was looking for. He had sort of figured that Richie had been hiding something. Eddie didn't know what. He just knew that Richie didn't leave his pants lying around on the floor. It had been appreciated at first but had gone on long enough now that Eddie was mildly suspicious. It just wasn't like Richie to be that diligent about picking up his pants. The guy wouldn't even make the bed.
His suspicions were far from the point. None of it even fucking mattered when Richie pulled out a little box and held it out to him. Was that...? No, it couldn't be. Richie was fucking with him, right? He looked from the box to the comedian, taking in just how nervous Richie seemed and the way his hands were shaking. He thought about he way Richie had looked around earlier and... Oh shit! This was real, wasn't it? There was an actual fucking ring in that box. Richie was proposing.
The comedian's hands were shaking and there was something in his voice that was verging on manic even as he was teasing Eddie. He hadn't really thought about how Richie might do this but he could, honestly, say he wouldn't have imagined this but maybe he should've. It was kind of perfect. "I'm not that fucking short." He breathed because, look, he had to. Richie couldn't get away with that joke. As for the rest, well, he was still certain his answer should be obvious but it might be nice to let Richie actually hear it. "Yes. I'll marry you. I want to marry you more than anything."
