Leia's resistance via silence held at first, not wanting to reward his more aggressive efforts with information, or what he wanted - in her mind, she’d finally offered an avenue by which to open communication, and she still ought to have control over that. But she lingered, by his way of being in the way, without even trying - Leia was forced to reason that, perhaps the fact she had made no efforts to initiate conversation in all this time, kind of set an even keel regarding his refusal for leniency, and the lack of trust that she would confront it without such. Leia let out a sigh, as she did concede perhaps she’d forfeit the right to establish her terms on this matter.
But he was right - it was give and take and she could, at this point direct the course.
"Of course you are." She shot back quickly, as if it was almost a ridiculous question, and for a moment, she turned over the thought that she could avoid anything further if she just bit back again, it would be exceptionally easy to push him away in this moment, and she wouldn't have to worry about anything other than keeping him as safe, as anyone else within the town because there would, no question be a permanent divide between them. Leia was quiet for a little while, as if she wasn't going to say anything further, her silence wasn't petulant, or indicating avoidance, as she wasn’t ignoring him either, her gaze still upon him. But the Princess was contemplative of what was the wiser choice.
“It’s because you’re important.” Leia voiced earnestly, with a sort of matter-of-fact tone, as if she was teetering on the edge, of leaving it vague, or pushing away. “Something happened, behind the doors- ..uh, not- not the Beach.” She specified calmly, in case his mind went toward some kind of regret on her behalf, for how close they’d become. “Before that- when that Halloween holiday was going on.”
She paused for a moment, watching him with caution. In part putting her words together, and part to gauge if it was worth continuing.
