It'd been months since Gwen had taken over running Van Dyne's on her own. It wasn't like it was a real business where she was trying to turn a profit to keep it open or anything like that, obviously. But it was still a pretty big undertaking to go through the doors, find clothing she could get and bring back in a variety of sizes and styles so people didn't have to all wear the same thing. Even though she didn't consider herself a fashionista, Gwen did think it sometimes could help one's mental state to put on an outfit that made them feel good about themselves. And in a place like this where they were all kind of flying by the seats of their pants, it probably went a long way if the pants were stylish.
She liked having a lot on hand at any given time so that people had options. She didn't want anyone coming in and freaking out or deciding not to take anything because they were afraid of taking the last of something.
Having someone want to help out in the shop was definitely a change of pace. Gwen had gotten used to it just being her and her bot Q-Tee, but before that it'd been her and her friend Jan van Dyne, and that had been really amazing. Beverly was new in town, and had offered to help her out and she wasn't going to turn down the company.
"Just me," she said. "Well, and Q-Tee, but she's kind of a menace sometimes. Mr. Stark and I built her together to help me fold things but she doesn't always fold the right things. She mismatches socks a lot. I had a friend who ran it with me before, but she's not in town anymore. Her name was Jan van Dyne. Hence, you know, the name." She smiled a little. "So it's great to have help again." Gwen was pretty sure Jan did have a sewing machine. It was probably in one of the closets.
