Who: The whole town. Yes, you too.
What: The Great Snowball War of 2k19
Where: The whole town
When: December 1

She had heard a great deal about this snow ball game that was going to be played and Nebula was ready for it, had been since it had first been explained to her by Sirius. But apparently they had needed to wait until there was enough snow for such a thing? Though how much snow was enough was not something she had understood, what made for enough? These were all questions she still had.

But the town had been covered in a blanket of snow over the last several weeks, with large piles of it build up along the edges of town as well as butted up against their houses where the snow had been blown during the days where it had been windier than others. And it seemed that they had finally reached that point of enough, though she saw no particular difference in the amount compared to some other days. This would be her first time though so she supposed that she could allow the others to decide when it was ready for their game.

And so there they were ready for the snowball game, teams dividing up, some playing individually, and others pairing up, as she and Remus planned to do - it was time for a great battle.

"Or our own," Richie said cheerfully, glancing back at their door, the entirely too low carving of his and Eddie's initials at the bottom of it . "Then we can call safe zone if we need to. That's how this works, right?" But that was too obvious, so another house it was. Hopefully an empty one.

"Wow," he said, building up more snowballs, pressing his fingers firm against the snow, until it felt solid, not really balls so much as oblong shapes, half the time. "You asking me to betray my -- Eddie? That sounds smart, of course it does, until you realize he's gonna fuck me up the second he realizes I'm not actually hurt. Am I expendable to you, Marsh. You're utterly ruthless." This was fun. Richie always liked it best when he could turn his mouth on and not worry about what was going to come out of it.

"Yeah. Definitely Stan first. "

Expendable? Richie? Such an idea was preposterous...

"You're expendable," Bev confirmed, though clearly she was teasing; her bright, Crest white strips grin said as much. "You're also bigger than me so you're easier to spot - " He was a giant, really - shot up to great heights junior year of high school, somewhere's around there, but it suited him. She always thought Richie was cute, how could you not? Sasquatch lumbering around in the snow. "We could lure Stan into a trap, perhaps. I'll take a defensive position in a tree," she suggested, arms now full of snowball arsenal to bring to their stockpile zone.

She had no qualms with falling on top of Stan and shoving his face into the snow either, in order to secure the win. Being scrappy meant she was good at climbing trees and securing a position on what would be a precarious branch for anyone else.

"I knew it," Richie lamented -- obnoxiously adding his own snowballs to the pile she was making of them in her arms. "I'm just cannon fodder over here to you. And here I thought we picked each other for our mutual admiration. But here we are."

A tree? Richie looked around for a nearby tree, for any that would be easily climbable. It felt a little bit like dirty pool, but he didn't doubt for a second the other half of the Losers were out there right now, bitching and talking shit and absolutely also calling Richie expendable in this battle. Which, while incredibly fair, was still enough reason for him to want to win (even if, admittedly, he was not sure how one at a snowball fight in the first place).

"Alright," he decided. "Operation fuck 'em up is now in session. Do you want my coat to carry all your ammo in while you work your way up a tree like a lunatic?"

"It was definitely the mutual admiration," Bev laughed, attempting to juggle the pile of snowballs since Richie was being really good about making sure he added his (with the bottom packed well enough - foundation really was key, as he'd soon find out). "Are you sure you'll be okay without your coat for a bit? I'll toss it back to you when I'm done, but still. Don't freeze out here."

She'd kick all their asses, but she'd also look out for them - no freezing (and Richie really needed a hat, by the way), made sure they ate enough vegetables and stayed in school. That sort of thing.

"I'll be fine," Richie said breezily, because he had a pretty decent sweater on and once they started running around and throwing shit at each other, he was liable to get sweaty anyway. It'd work out fine. "I won't freeze. Anyway, this'll be the distraction we need. Eddie'll fucking murder me for not wearing a coat." So obviously, he was shrugging it off now, to be used for better things.

Richie could have well done with some proper ass kicking from Bev (and Eddie. And Stan) during that part of his life when they'd all been separated. He'd probably have made better choices. And possibly a degree to show for his efforts in college. Not that it mattered much now -- not here or back home where he'd made a career for himself without one anyway.

"That tree," he said, holding his coat open so they could use it a bit like a bag, and nodding toward one sort of nearby. "If you go around the houses to get there, no one'll spot you."

That was true, Eddie would definitely start spouting off facts about cold weather and health and Richie potentially slamming face first into a case of hypothermia, when he saw the lack of coat. It would be the perfect distraction. "See, you're pretty ruthless too," she complimented (and it was a compliment), stacking the snowballs into the makeshift bag.

There, now she was basically Mrs. Claus with a sack full of presents - except these presents were wet and chilly and she was going to lob them at her beloveds. She'd make it up to them by getting them much better Christmas presents.

"Okay, I'll be in the tree - if you can lure them somewhat close in that direction? I'll have a prime opportunity." She didn't know if Eddie and Stan would split up, but she'd keep an eye on things from her vantage point. Then she was off to do some climbing, like a ninja monkey up the branches.
