Thor knew Loki as well as anyone could know his brother. He wasn't sure even Loki knew himself completely, but that was just the way Loki was. But since he did know his brother, he knew that he probably said things that might kind of be true but also be an exaggeration if he was in a bad mood or if Thor had messed with his stuff (granted that would probably make the things Loki said a bit more accurate).
"You pass adequately," he said. "I believe your skills will be useful, however I do not know what the terms are of this particular battle. What designates the winner? Number of hits, or do we simply fight until the bitter end when all others concede defeat? If that is the case, then we shall declare ourselves the winner for I shall never succumb." Thor wasn't afraid of snow. "I will make the proclamation to the townspeople so that they might go back indoors rather than risk losing their limbs to the cold."
