Stan rolled his eyes, but didn't comment on Richie's declaration that his process might be boring. It was more likely that it was something that he knew he'd left undone, lingering guilt about the life he'd left behind, not just the work, but Patty and their plans. So maybe it was boring but it was a weight all the same. But he was there to talk about whatever it was that was weighing on Richie right then. His own burden could hold a little longer.
Maybe it had been right there on the tip of his tongue to remind Richie about Hanukkah, but that was more old habit than any true desire to remind him of something he knew Richie was already aware of. And he didn't think that was actually the point. But Richie kept on finally getting out something real. "Yeah." Stan agreed, it definitely was going to be one of the best he'd ever had, that much he was entirely certain of. "It's going to be a really great one." Because how could it not be? With the three of them together? It was going to be hard to beat.
Unless of course you started thinking like Richie seemed to be. "It's too much," He finished when Richie stopped, because of course it was - even knowing what had happened to Eddie was too much, add to that taking himself off the board? Well Stan understood that kind of weight was something that neither he nor Eddie could truly wrap their minds around. They just had to bear the weight of one loss, but Richie got them both. And Stan knew it wasn't fair.
"This isn't how I expected things to end up," Stan said after a moment, "Doing what I did," It was as close as he'd get to actually owning up to it, even now further out from it, it still felt like too much. "But I love you, I love Eddie, I love all the rest of my Losers. There isn't anything I wouldn't have done for any one of you. I know it's not much of a consolation prize for you, but it's - it's all I have." He didn't want to make Richie let go of that pain entirely, it was his own and he was owed the chance to grieve and hold on to if it he wanted to, but Stan did want to remind him that they were both here now, him and Eddie, and they were there with Richie too.
