Of course Natasha would get it. Yes, it was great having some women running the show as super heroes back where she was from but she had to know that there was more to the story than that. She was sharp, could read between lines Gwen hadn't even tried to hide between because even if this wasn't exactly the same Natasha she'd spent so much of her time with, she was just as smart, just as able to read her. It didn't unsettle her at all. It was actually a comfort.
Maybe it was a little selfish on her part to give Natasha space she hadn't asked for. She definitely didn't want to come across as stand offish or like she didn't want to get to know her because that wasn't true at all. But Gwen was a teenager who was still kind of trying to figure a lot of shit out and so navigating this whole multiple selves thing and how people coped with it was still a learning process. Personally, she had no idea how she'd feel if some other Gwen popped up. Weird as fuck, to start.
"Yeah, I get that," she said. "I'd pretty much cut off socializing back where I'm from. It just got too hard, trying to keep people I care about safe and still do the hero thing. I don't know if that was a good decision or not but I made it. And now, here, I don't have to do that. I thought that losing people here who I care about would make me want to be closed off again but it's actually been the opposite. So, yeah, I'd love it if we can talk and hang out and just.. know each other." She pressed the sandwiches together. "What would you like to know?"
