Steve was seriously worried about it for no reason as far as Tony was concerned, both because he was positive he could have handed Tony a rock he'd picked up off the street and used that to propose and Tony would have said yes, but also because he was doing it like this. Taking the time to get something made that was unique and significant considering what it was, all of it made the whole thing a foregone conclusion in his mind.
"Yeah," Tony agreed with a small smile. Marriage was kind of a long way off for him and his sort of desires and world view but a world where he got to marry Steve Rogers? Yeah that was exactly the kind of future he envisioned for himself.
"He wants it," He promised him. "Like I know I'm not really him, not in the really big ways." The ways that made the old Tony look so world weary, or the relationship he had with Steve but he was entirely sure that Tony wanted that too, because they were similar enough in the small ways that counted. Tony wanted a family, one that was his own, and sure marriage was just paper in some ways but it was more than that too. "But he's gonna say yes."
