"Well, I mean you could like.... have a really fancy paper weight?" He suggested with a teasing smirk, but if Steve agreed that he wanted him to have it then Tony was not going to argue with him, if there was one person in the world he was certain knew how to speak their mind it was Steve.
Tony couldn't help but be just a little bit jealous, not that this Steve loved old Tony and not him, because that was stupid, but just the idea of it, that they had managed to figure it out and he still hadn't quite been able to even get it through his Steve's thick head that he was kind of gone over him. So maybe it wasn't jealousy as much as it was longing for something? Or maybe he just missed his Steve even more in that moment, or maybe it was just complicated. Whatever it was though, he was glad for them.
Steve confidence in him was kind of nice too, the way he was so sure that he was the right person to do this and that maybe they'd fit it to him and then refit it later if it turned out that maybe that didn't work out quite as well as they'd hoped. "No yeah, that might work." He agreed nodding. "If nothing else I can figure out some sneaky way of scanning him to get the measurements." He decided. It was gonna be perfect because he wasn't going to give Steve anything less, especially for some other him - he hoped maybe there'd be another Tony around for him like this one day. Maybe. If he was supremely lucky.
Tony rolled his eyes, "You're not dumb Cap, you don't have to pretend like you are." He said shaking his head. "He's not going to say no, because we're a genius." He reminded him, and because he and old Tony were geniuses they weren't going to pass up an opportunity like this. "He's gonna say yes, and he's gonna say something ridiculous and mushy and probably a bit sappy too, and you're gonna be kicking yourself for not asking him sooner." He was entirely certain of all of it and yeah, he might have been surprised by it but he was eager and excited about it too.
