"Oh stop that," She said poking his side before she was slipping an arm around him to pull him just the tiniest bit closer. "You're not dumb." Kitty knew he knew that too - but sometimes it was nice just to be reminded of something you already knew. And certainly in a situation like this she could understand why he was feeling caught up in the what ifs, fear did funny things to you and it sounded like John had experienced some very real fear in his trip through the door. "Besides," She smirked at him just a little teasing, "We both know I'm only with you for your ass."
Fear was a strange thing, it didn't work logically, as much as any of them might wish that it did, it was complicated and layered and complex and there were no easy answers. And even when you knew something making your head believe it was something else entirely. "I know, it's a terrible thing to realize but even you have a mind up there." She told him sagely. "It'll get easier though, in time - it won't come creeping up on you so often." And maybe he'd forget about it entirely if he was very lucky, though more likely it was the sort of thing that would drift and then reappear at times without explanation or reason.
She gave him a roll of her eyes when he asked for a kiss on the other side but she pressed one there all the same happy to humor him in this. "No, I'm not much for sharing." She agreed, she'd never been that way and she wasn't about to start now.
Taking his hand she tugged at him just enough to get his hand to cover hers, where her wound had been, it wasn't so bad now and she thought him touching her and remembering that she was all here and fine would help too. "They haven't been great that's for sure, but they have to let up eventually. Maybe we can try again soon." She wasn't in a huge hurry to go back, but she had to trust that in time maybe they'd find something actually fun and not some new hardship.
