Kitty nodded while John spoke, just listening while he said what he needed to, telling her about his trip through the doors - the way the door slammed shut like that - it was the same way it had happened for her and Nyx, leaving them trapped there. But the sick feeling hadn't been quite as immediate for them, initially Kitty had almost thought that maybe they'd manage to salvage something out of the trip before it all fell to pieces. That of course hadn't been the case.
She didn't compare her trip through the doors with his though, just let him tell it at his own pace. She could see just how heavily it weighed on him, even all these days out from the trip he was still shaken up over it, the fear was there in him, and it was a side of him she'd never seen before. He was many things, but scared wasn't really one of them.
It was when he paused for a moment that Kitty shifted, Kasai lifting her head sleepily and moving so that Kitty could too, so that she was closer to John, taking one of his hands in hers, easing up that death grip he'd been holding as he clenched his hands around one another. "It's not here, John." She told him gently, "It's just you and me, and all of our kids." She said the last little bit with a small smile trying to tease him out just a bit.
"This is a safe space, here, this house, with me - you're safe." Kitty didn't often say things like that, she knew it wasn't something she could always guarantee, but she needed this to be their safe space, for the both of them.
