At least she was safe, all things considered. She had arrived without her communicator or any device she had been given to try and keep her within Torchwood's compass. It was their first test in jumping through time and space without the Doctor. Of course, his technology was what got them up and running in the first place, but when you didn't have a complete set of tools or didn't completely understand how to use them, things had the tendency to go awry. She figured that's how she found herself in this village, a few years ahead of where she was trying to get to. But really, she didn't know what time she was hoping to get to. Just anywhere that the Doctor might be. She was hoping they'd be able to track him through time and space, but right now, they were just grasping at stars, hoping for the best and that an agent could get through; namely herself. She wouldn't take no for an answer, arguing that despite her entry-level badge, she knew him the best out of anyone working on the project, so didn't that give her certain privileges? She shared her knowledge of the Doctor with the team, helping to pinpoint and track his whereabouts. When they had gotten a bite on their end, she didn't question possibility, she volunteered to go. And this is what it had gotten her. A semi-empty village of people who seemed to be as confused as she was, trying to make a living out of their circumstances. Great. And still no sign of the Doctor. Rose was in the room she had been assigned, the small phone open with the various responses from some of the other residents. They seemed friendly and helpful enough, but not enough to help her get back. What was her team doing now? Were they panicking? When had they lost her signal? What if it wasn't even close to this place? As the panic started to take over, there was a knock on the door. Rose glanced up, frowning. She didn't have any sort of weapon in case this wasn't a neighbor, coming to check in on how she was holding up. She peeked out the window, but the glass distorted the image of the person. But there was something about the way he stood, how high his hair seemed to stand... "Yeah? What do you want?" Rose pressed her face against the door to hear him better. It couldn't be him...could it? What were the chances? Fairly slim, actually. So she'd potentially lose the chance to see if it was really him? "Doctor? If...if that's you, do something...Doctor like." |
