There was understandably a sense of fear, wariness, maybe even defensiveness that came along with arriving in a place like this, being in circumstances like this, surrounded by people who were trying to assure you that everything was okay when really everything was not. She could understand that. She had a hard time grasping the concept but she hoped that those who arrived here would eventually feel a sense of understanding that yeah, this sucks, but it's my reality at the moment. Nothing was certain, nothing was guaranteed, but living in the moment for what it was and hopefully making connections with other people made it a bit easier to manage it.
She wouldn't project her experience on him or anyone else who arrived, but hoped that the new arrivals could see that this was a functioning place where everyone coexisted so they were at least among good company. No one in town was going to hurt anybody (werewolves aside). She couldn't speak for what was on the other side of the doors but the town was at least safe.
"Hey," she said, and gave a playful hair toss when he shot the compliment back to her. The handshake was formal, but she didn't mind. It'd be about on par with how awkward a high five might be. She took his hand and shook it. "I'm Gwen. Gwen Stacy. You want to walk? Or do you want to unload all the questions you probably have first?"
