Steve had been in Starklandia (still a stupid name, no wonder Tony hadn't wanted to use it) for three days now, and while the initial fear had passed (he'd smoked like nobody's business, but it's just that: nobody's business), Steve was at a loss for what in the holy hell he should do. Steve had to admit, he wasn't....well, he wasn't exactly the best at forming plans. Executing them, sure, and thinking on his feet - he'd lived this long, hadn't he? But he's alone this time (stupidly, he thinks, Dustin always knew what to do), and he's still trying to wrap his brain around the fact that he jumped thirty years into the future.
It's whack, is what it is.
He'd moved into one of the upper apartments surrounding the courtyard - he says moved in, but the truth is, Steve doesn't have much of anything to move. Just the clothes on his back and the shit in his pockets - which is $45 and the pack of smokes he's been ripping through. And a comb, lighter, and pair of sunglasses - but lined up on the kitchen table, it's pretty sad.
Steve still hasn't touched the "phone", since Tony fixed it for him (mostly because he doesn't want a repeat of breaking it), but he did pick up some stuff from the storage house, so. At least he has some mac & cheese he can cook, right?
He'd just taken a shower, and was sitting at the window, wet hair curling around his ears, trying to figure out the options here. The past couple days, nothing out of the ordinary had happened - he hadn't magically snapped back to a hell dimension like the Upside Down.
Steve's looking out over the courtyard, trying to find some semblance of direction when he spots him. A man, sitting on the ground almost exactly where Steve had woken up - a man that looked suspiciously like the Chief. Steve stood up, still staring out the window, and when the man looked around, squinting in the sunlight, there was no mistaking him. "Hopper?"
But - how was he even alive? Steve had heard the whole story, just once, from Jonathan - Joyce had told her son everything, but hadn't wanted to relive it all again with everyone else. But it should have been impossible -
Well, Starklandia should have been impossible too, but here they are.
Steve bolted out of the apartment, because there was no way to know without seeing for himself. He took the stairs two at a time, and burst out into the plaza, skidding on the cobblestone in his Nikes. "Chief!"
