Natasha | Bucky
Bucky had no idea if they were going to be able to outrun these things were. Even after killing one he didn't have time to get a good look at it. He knew they were fast just from what little they'd been able to see but as far as what they could do, that was still a bit of a mystery at this point. But they were dangerous and clearly hunting them down either to kill or to eat and Bucky wasn't interested in either of those two outcomes. They were at a disadvantage with all the trees, because those things could hide in them. He thought if they could find a clearing or somewhere more open, or at least where they could get a vantage point, they'd be able to get a better handle on the situation. Fuck, he wished he had some sort of gun.
And soon they were running. When she grabbed for him he grabbed back so that they were secure in their physical connection and not going to be separated. He used his vibranium arm to knock away branches that might cause them to have to slow their pace. "I see it," he said when she indicated the light, building, whatever it was. Bucky could hear the skittering, the snapping of teeth behind them but he wasn't going to turn to look. No delays. If he had to push her through and turn to fight some of them off he'd do it. No matter what the dynamic of their relationship was, Natalia was someone he'd always been willing to die for. That wasn't something that just went away.
But such extremes weren't necessary because they did reach the door together and soon were falling through it back into the creepy house. Bucky kicked the door shut as he tumbled over and finally took just a second to breathe. "For fuck's sake," he grumbled, then looked over at her. This sort of shit would've been some kind of fucked up training exercise in the past, though not likely with other worldly creatures. "Think we deserve a drink after that," he said. No, no formalities, no small talk. It wasn't their way. They didn't need a proper hello, did they?
