Eddie & Hopper
"Oh good. Both our lives were horror movies." Now probably wasn't the time to go into what, exactly, was in the creepy woods that had been trying to kill Hopper. That was something you talked about later. When you weren't trapped in a whole new set of creepy woods where something was probably going to kill you. He'd file that away for a later conversation. If they survived this and if Hopper was still interested in hanging out with the guy who'd promised him a city and delivered possible death instead.
As nice as it probably would've been to have a gun it wasn't that big of a deal. 27 years ago the Losers killed a monstrous child-eating clown with the power of friendship, a baseball bat, and a bolt gun that wasn't loaded. So anything was probably possible. It was possible the stick would be a good idea. Eddie had been walking around with a rusted piece of fence when he first arrived. He wasn't about to be picky about weapon choice.
He was, however, going to kick himself for not bringing that damn fence piece with him. This is what happened when you got comfortable and genuinely liked the people around you. You forgot about the horrors.
It was pretty nice to have his new possible friend already willing to help him out and protect him. He wasn't sure if it was necessary or not. Honestly, maybe the woods weren't even creepy. Maybe the door had just glitched and sent them to some normal woods. Maybe if they picked their way through carefully they'd end up in a city and he would still be keeping his word. Who knew? He was pretty sure he'd never been that lucky and wouldn't miraculously start being lucky now. "Thanks. I'll make sure nothing sneaks up on us from behind." Which meant being a little more suspicious of sounds and his surroundings than usual.
If this turned out bad he was just going to quit having adventures.
