Eddie & Hopper
Hopper wasnt' sure what to make of this place. Or the doors. But he was compartmentalizing all that uncertainty because he was a man on a mission. Eleven might not be in this place with him right now, but she could show up, and if she did he was damn sure going to have Eggos on hand for her. It wasn't about the Eggos themselves, it was what they stood for.
He'd told her that leaving Eggos in the woods for her opened him up to start feeling things again. They often had triple Eggo surprise for breakfast together in the cabin before he officially adopted her and began to allow her to integrate into society. Eggos were a symbol of their relationship, of the father/daughter bond they had. Eggos were so much more than frozen waffles for them.
She might never show up here, but if she did, he wanted to have Eggos already there and waiting for her. A symbol of his love for her, and the fact he would always keep her safe. Everything he did, he did for her, or at least with her in mind. Even if that meant walking through a creepy door into the unknown.
It wouldn't be the first time he crossed a significant threshold. And, he reasoned, whatever waited on the other side couldn't be any worse than The Upsidedown, and he'd survived that particular hell more than once. He glanced at Eddie, virtual stranger, but someone who had agreed to go on this adventure with him. "You ready?" he asked. He was ready. He was always ready when he was doing something for El.
