"Is there a door that way? Or should we keep moving?" There was something unsettling about this forest, the things that moved in it didn't seem right, at least not like the sort of animals that normally moved through the trees at night. This was unnatural, and strange in ways she didn't entirely know what to do with. But with James at her side she wasn't worried about how they would deal with it - they simply would, as they always did with everything they'd faced before.
She took the offered machete, testing the weight in her hand for a moment and lifted her eyes to the trees around them, trying to place the sounds she was hearing, tracking the movement through the brush. "No, it's not alone." But then neither were they now - it would have been something that worried her more if she'd been on her own. But things weren't that dire at the moment.
Tipping her head in one direction, she signaled to him where she heard something moving and at the same time used a hand to point the way they should move, she had a feeling he was on the same page as they were and they needed to move before they really did find themselves surrounded, she wasn't eager to have anything other than James at her back as they moved through the trees.
