Natasha | Bucky
Bucky wasn't a stranger to the doors. He'd gone through a number of times, usually to look for supplies or something to entertain Tony the Goat so he'd stop screaming. That was what he'd been intending to do when he went into the forest. Supplies, not gifts for the screaming goat. When he saw it was a forest, he thought it might be advantageous to see if he could gather some firewood for when it got really cold. They had a forest in town, but there were a finite number of trees there. He didn't want to waste them if they needed them in the future. And no, he wasn't exactly fond of cutting down and chopping up trees but being in a situation that while not exactly dire, but needing to take what they could get sometimes, he was going to get the job done.
The thing about this forest was, well, it was definitely not normal. Bucky had realized that about five steps in. Maybe he should've asked Clint to come along. Or Steve. Or maybe he should've just not gone through the scary door. That was probably more logical, but hindsight was a little useless at this point.
His heightened hearing caught on to the sound of something nearby, but he soon realized that kind of was coming from all over the place. Bucky wasn't going to be chopping wood today. He was going to find whatever it was that was tracking him, take it down, and go back home to hide in a corner and blare Dog Cops until the creep factor went down. He pressed his back to a tree and listened, listened, listened -- he even stopped breathing for several seconds until he was certain something was close. He whipped around the tree with the blade of his machete ready to strike and clipped whatever was there. He had no idea what it was because it retreated back into the trees but he'd wounded it. He turned back around just in time to see a head of red hair and a familiar face. One he'd been wanting to see but hadn't because he'd wanted to give her space while she adjusted to town.
"Fuck, Natalia, I-- Sorry, Natasha. Did you -- there was something there." He was talking low, just loud enough for her to hear in case whatever it was still was nearby.
