She'd been having such a nice dream, she was thinking about her and Lockheed flying together, her arms outstretched to either side of her, the little dragon flying beside her through the sky off for some great adventure. She wasn't sure, all she knew was it felt amazing and that feeling was gone in an instant when John practically pounced on her jarring her out of her dream and back into the waking world. She frowned, refusing to open her eyes at first, wanting just a little bit more sleep, maybe she could see where she and Lockheed had been going.
Not even John's first kiss was enough to make her open her eyes at first, too stubborn and clinging to sleep was she. But the second followed by his declaration did it. And her eyes opened almost in an instant as she looked up at him, the realization that she was looking up at John, grown and without the crown atop his head the way he'd had for so long, right up until ... god that had really happened.
"John," She reached up and pulling him toward her to kiss him again, "Oh look at you," She caressed his cheek gently, full of wonder. "I don't think I've ever been more happy to see you." And the same would have been true if he still had the crown atop his head, but the both of them as adults, that was something she much preferred, it had been strange to be young like that again, to both miss her parents and know they weren't there, to have forgotten so much and yet remember it all now. She was baffled by it all.
"Come here," She reached for him once more, as if he could get any closer, kissing his mouth again, and then his cheeks and his nose and his forehead, "I love you."
