Getting a girl was important. Oh, fucking christ, wasn't that just a can of worms that he wasn't ready to open? Tony's eyebrows dipped downward in something approximating concern before he wandered past him in order to open up the refrigerator and stare into it a little blankly. He had no reason for looking into it. There was nothing he wanted in there.
"Romance certainly has it's place in life," he said after a beat. "It's always nice. Having a partner. Someone who's on the same page as you and who you can be comfortable with." A partner. Tony had always been open about who he was and what he wanted and he wasn't about to lie to a little kid about it, particularly when Steve was that kid. But he wasn't going to shove his modern aged opinions in the face of a little boy from the 30's either. He'd just... say what needed to be said.
And anyway. He supposed if Steve was going to go play pretend house, it was best that it was with Natasha. "But it's nice to just have friends too," he finished a little lamely.
