Eddie | Richie
Tony was a nice kid. He was also incredibly smart and kind of cute. There was absolutely nothing to be jealous of because Tony, while great, wasn't Richie. The only real thought Eddie gave to their host was that he'd have to tell the kid thank you and make sure Richie returned the tie without any stains or something on it.
He'd worry about that later even if, with one little statement, the tie became both unimportant and the most important thing in the world. Richie wasn't wearing the tie to impress anyone. He was wearing it to impress Eddie, wearing it because the other boy had just asked or mentioned it somewhere. The effort he'd put into finding the tie, attempting to tie it, and, even, brushing his hair down hadn't been for anyone else. It was for him and that made him feel special in a way.
Slowly, Eddie's hands slid from Richie's hair. They passed over his ears and the frame of his glasses to rest, for the moment on either side of his face, simply caressing the other's cheeks as Eddie looked at him. He didn't remember when it started. He just knew that, sometimes, when he was close to Richie like this, when they were stuck in one of these rare moments (before Richie found his own way out of these), he sort of wanted to press his lips against the other boy's. He was ignoring that now, attempting to push it as far back in his mind as it would go. He could deal with it later or not at all.
He didn't let his hands fall away too quickly, afraid of losing that contact and breaking whatever this was. Whatever it was that made the party sort of fade into the background. Especially when Richie started talking again and Eddie felt his heart speed up. Yes. He wanted that. "I... I do." He said softly, so softly that only Richie could actually hear. "I want that. More of... whatever else."
