Oh my goodness, what a beautifully told story. The virgin, the angry youth, the bitter man accepting the fate thrust upon him... each version of Snape is so poignantly written. And this is probably a very odd thing to focus on, but this part: Her body was softer and the lines of pregnancy traced her belly. His fingers traced them made me catch my breath. It's a perfect bit of detail, and tells so much of the life she's led in the intervening years. Excellent.
