Gift art for eeyore9990, Exile, all-ages
Recipient: eeyore9990

Artist: fanficforensics

Title: Exile

Characters: Severus Snape, Remus Lupin

Rating: All ages

Media: Ballpoint on paper, Gimp

Content info: First War AU, Original Order/Death Eater: the Teenage Years, suspenders, glasses, Snape (and Lupin) being shouty and sneaky and not liking the future Dumbledore's prepared for them. Includes unexplained prior Snupin. Much talking and no smut, alas.p>
Summary: After Halloween in 1981, Remus Lupin takes a detour to Hogwarts before leaving the country, determined that he's not going to lose the only loved one he has left.

Disclaimer: The world of HP and its characters belongs to Rowling.

Artists notes: Many thanks to jin_fenghuang for the beta and the mods for their patience. Lot of pics in this one, so I tried a quicker style than usual - I hope it doesn't look too unfinished. Snape's suspenders never came into view very well, so here's a photo. Happy holidays, eeyore9990!

I love stories where Snape and Lupin save Harry. (Or really, where anyone saves Harry--but Snape and Lupin is especially good!) I like the way you drew their faces here--especially Snape. He's all scraggly. They will make great surrogate parents...I realize how difficult it is to do this much drawing justice with a comment, but it's wonderful.

Oh. Oh my GOD!!!! Holy shit, this is just the most awesome thing EVER! *flails around madly* I don't know what I did right, but I must have done something SPECTACULAR because Holy Shit, look what I GOT!! Oh, mystery artist/author, you've spoiled me forever with this. So much WORK, omg. The beautiful panels, the wonderfully told story, the... EVERYTHING. The emotion and plot and the gorgeous lines. Severus in glasses. And braces. And bruises. *shivers all over* And Remus! So young and old at the same time. So beautifully tragic.

God, how much do I love that you have them running off together with Harry. Rescuing him from Petunia. This story is so brilliantly told. I cannot stress that enough. And I wish I were better able to talk shop with regard to the art because I want to tell you in technical ways how awesome it is, but I have no idea about technicalities. All I know is that you've drawn the most exquisite, fluidly emotional and expressive characters I think I've ever seen. Severus' stare just zaps my soul and Remus... just that huddled-in, nearly beaten by life but still struggling to hold on effect. I have no idea how you did that, but it's AMAZING.

I cannot thank you enough. Just writing this comment is bringing tears to my eyes because I feel so overwhelmed by the time and effort that you obviously put into this. I love it. I love it SO MUCH. THANK YOU!!

*holds it to me forever*

Man, I hate to be lazy, but ditto everything Eey said. This is an incredible text and image piece and I love both the style of the art and the dark-tinged, swelling romance in it. Snape's line about "it's only a small one -- I can handle one" just cracked me up. Unbelievably (because I am the LAST person who'd ever get on the kidfic bus) it also made me imagine Snape/baby hijinks and even kinda want to see a few such scenes. XD I LOVE Severus' bruised face and how he got it. The emotion in both the art and story is so strong -- one abandoned man convincing another to rebel against the status quo and save another abandoned soul. Just, wow. Great, great job on this. Beautiful.

Oh this is wonderful. I love the style of this as well as the nice long story to go with. Severus's reaction to Petunia taking care of Harry is total WIN and I love them deciding to go rescue him. Great job!

This is unbelievably wonderful. I just loved the story in itself but the panels of art you did for this are phenomenal. Kudos and bows to you!

This is fantastic, mystery artist/author! Wonderfully evocative images...and Remus is so understanding until even he has to scream a little (because Severus, much though I love him, is a damned aggravating bugger. *G*). Well done!

This is gorgeous, and moving, and if it had happened and Dumbles had done what he ought, would have saved a lot of trouble and grief!

Love their faces and how they show feelings. Admire the text, and the way you've fitted text and art together.

This is fabulous! I love their suspicions and grudges and air of desperation, and the seize-the-moment decision to go grab Harry from Petunia and get the hell away from all the tumult and losses in their lives. Beautifully drawn, with the sketches playing on the urgency of it all.

My, this is wonderful. Some of those images are so beautiful, but the story is even better! You fit a lot of plat into a very few panels.

This is absolutely adorable! I love the expressiveness of their faces. The plan to steal Harry and run away together is just fantastic and I love how Remus "convinces" Severus of it.

Recommended by [info]eeyore9990 on [info]lupin_snape.

The anger, the diffuse angst, all the weight of the first war and its losses are evident in those first panels. Severus' angularity is nicely juxtaposed with Remus' "smoothness", and that scarf around his neck adds to the softness. Their conversation is filled nuances and memories, adding to the story you're telling, mystery artist, and I loved every panel.

I can see this happening, Petunia fainting as she sees Severus' smirk clearly! Well thought-out, well done, and lovingly drawn! Oh, thank you!

Just beautiful - the art, the story, the details, it's all perfect. I especially loved Snape still being snarky and Lupin's easy acceptance of it. Their relationship is portrayed as so very real. Loved it!

I came over here at [info]eeyore9990's rec and omg, I am so glad she rec'd this everywhere she has a journal.

I've been trying to come up with a coherent comment and I keep going back to Severus in glasses and flailing. This is just fabulous! love the snark, and the way you've implied the back story and Sev in glasses is made of win!

This is really one of the most beautiful and amusing illustrated stories I've ever seen. I love Lupin with pointed years, and Snape is really snarky and schoolteacherish. Their relationship is just perfect. Thank you, whoever you are! I'm looking forward to reading/seeing other works by you after the reveal.

Echoing everyone else, but what else is there to say but that this set of images -- and the story that goes with them -- is wonderful. I love the way you bring them together, deal with the issues, and then head off into the unknown. And that last panel, with Snape's malicious expression, is a dynamite topper.
