I just love your Snape Dumbledore interactions. I love the thin veneer on the mutual loathing the still have for each other and how you can see that it may grow.

Lupin and Snape make sense in this setting, their despair and how they form a connection through it, despite their past.

Great job, mystery author :D

Oh my!
Your Snape is simply perfect. Snide, snippy, a thorough bastard, and yet his grief comes through so clearly in your very capable hands, mystery author. And you managed Lupin perfectly, too. He's a difficult character for me to sympathize with at times, but you made him interesting (something I'm afraid JK didn't manage) and there was a wonderful balance between the two of them here. The give and take of their relationship was perfect.
And the Snape/DD interactions! *nods* I bet this is exactly what it was like for them before Snape grew to respect DD (and before DD grew to trust Snape).
Brilliantly written!

Snape/Lupin takes work for me, and this story does that work brilliantly. By the end, I can believe that Snape and Lupin can have a future together and that there's a basis for a relationship between them.

The conversations with Dumbledore and the slow movement towards an ability to talk with Lupin, never mind a relationship really worked amazingly well.

Excellent work.

The Snape/Lupin relationship develops so believably, in fits and starts, with exactly the sort of hostility and distrust that one would expect, yet with moments of connection (like laughing over Petunia) that make clear that these two outsiders have a lot in common. Severus's prickly interactions with Albus work well, too.

Oh. My. God! This was a stupendous fic! I think I've been dying for a Snupin fic just like this but didn't know it until I started reading. The characterizations are superb, and I especially love how you made Lupin able to hold his own against Snape while remaining believable. Snape's awkward discomfort, Lupin getting more and more frustrated as he misreads Snape's signals (or maybe not, right?), the zinging dialogue, the great atmospheric descriptions -- this totally ROCKED!!!!

There are so many good scenes in here, but the one that really got me was at the end when Lupin announced "you may not need anyone but I do, and you're it) and sat down beside Snape and forcibly hugged him. (Kind of makes me think of that 'Engineers Guide to Cats' video with the 'corporal cuddling'.)

The sex scene was marvelous but I think the build up was even better. I seriously love me some UST, especially when Lupin's so frustrated he's about to bite something and Snape's like 'whut?' Oh gosh, just a delicious fic and *exactly* what I didn't know I was looking for. Definitely going in the 'faves'. Thank you so much for writing this.

Oh, this is fabulous. The characterisation is wonderful - through all the misery and snappiness.
Oh, and pinned-to-a-wall fun too. Proper job!

Arrgh! I meant to point Karasu over here last night. I think she hasn't seen it yet. Sorry, Santa!

Also, I read the story and it contained some great writing and character moments. It reads like a classic. Thank you so much!

I think my feelings about this fic can best be summed up thusly: OMG!!! ::flaily flaily flail flail::

Your opening scene is so powerful; it just sucks the reader into the world and the story. You've captured immediately-post-first-war Severus and Remus so beautifully. Severus a seething, barely contained ball of anger and bitterness while Remus is sinking into despair and desperation. Then they gradually develop a peculiar friendship out of their shared misery, comforting each other in odd and subtle ways.

And then the UST sets in! I just adore resistant!Severus and persistant!Remus, and poor Remus being utterly frustrated by Severus' mixed signals. Tthen the sex -- when it FINALLY happens..!!! OMG, you're trying to kill me, aren't you?! Just... abjludfalfa!!! Remus making Severus admit that he wants it..!!! I just have no words other than GUH.

And the END! ::melts:: Both of them there for each other once again, in that quiet, subtle way of theirs. Amazing romance without schmoop. Wonderful blend of angst and humor and real feeling. Love, love, love this. ♥

fantastic fic! for some reason, I am falling in love with Snupin this season, and in so doing, taking an interest in the 70's era... it's said in many of the comments here, but this moment in time feels brilliantly evoked, and really makes canon-sense out of SS/RL.

Wonderful. Two men who have been deeply wounded and turn to each other when there is no one else. This feel true, as do Dumbledore's interaction with them both.

Wow, that was amazing - totally earned it's rec on Daily Snitch! I'm so glad I tried a Snape/Lupin story - I really enjoyed watching them circle closer and closer to each other, and it was very touching, and then, also? Very hot :)

Brilliant. I just love the visceral anger they both have bottled up inside them. Your opening scene was just marvelous-the anguish and pain they were both feeling. Dumbledore is spot on. And I just loved Severus and Remus's one step forward, two steps back form of relationship negotiation. :P Excellent fic.

Oh, and full points from me for Severus's reaction to Petunia being the one to take Harry-I have a real kink for any sort of mention of the fact that they knew each other and I really feel it's under utilized in fic.

*clap clap clap* THANK YOU! I enjoyed this fic a lot! The slow buildup with an awkward Snape and frustrated Lupin. Guh. The build up to the sex scene, was especially nice! They are so messy with their anti trust, anguish, pain and attraction to one another. This certainly was a joy to read! thank you again!

The bitter anger at the beginning is so fitting, so in tune with my own views that it hurt to read. And, I agreed with both Severus that Dumbledore was manipulative...this made it much more open than canon.

Amazing work as always and thank you so much for sharing!

Bittersweet story. I love this line: "You don't have to need me. But I need someone and I've decided to make that someone you."
