I've read this four or five times now and I am still not sure I can articulate just how much I love it. Simply, I love that Harry has the family, the life he deserves. Surrounded by those he loves and still doing something that makes him happy. All the little details about his kids, his nieces and nephews, their families--the big gathering at his house when it became known that Lily was back reminded me so very much of visiting my husband's family in Italy. 20 people or more catching up with each other. Such a creative and original second career for Harry and so perfect. I loved Winky and Kreacher, I loved Harry with Emma standing on his thighs, I even loved Ginny which is saying something. Of course this is all just about Harry. Now....
Severus--gosh, my heart just aches for him that he still had *something* weighing him down, even after all that time. His reaching out to Harry, the way they clearly reached a point in their lives by then that the time was right for something to change between them. Harry's defense of Ginny, the conversation about when they each knew they preferred men, Harry's mistake in sending the opal and Severus's ability to comfort him over Kreacher after they had argued about the opal. They are both still clearly the same men but yes, older and wiser. Softer around the edges maybe but still true to their characters.
I'm tempted to cheat and copy all the much better comments people left but I won't. I'll just tell you I've been moved to tears on each re-read. This is a brilliant and beautiful fic. Well done.
