Re: Instant Family
Hey, sure thing. Cruise and I write very easily together though we do have several different ways of crafting stories. The one we use the most often is something we call tagging--one of us will start the story--we don't generally outline, just dive in with an idea of where it's going, usually ironed out via chat. The other person will build on that beginning, usually in 500-1000 word tags. When we come to critical plot points--"Who do we think the villain is?" or "Um, what happens next?"--we talk it over either via email or chat. (We are also close enough to be able to visit often, though we live in different states)
We don't usually polish each other's work--Cruise writes much more cleanly than I do so fixing the odd typo is something we both do.
I honestly have moments when reading over our stories where I can't remember which of us wrote which parts.
We have another technique that we use for fast & dirty fics--we'll RP (role play) the scene out and each of us will take a character and write a bit of exposition and dialogue, for example:
Snape: *rubs cock against his* I have you now, Potter!
Then we polish up the Role Play and voila, a fic! Not good for long stories but pretty effective for PWP's!
I guess the best advice for co-writing, is to figure out a system that works for you both and go for it!
Best of luck and I'm happy to answer any questions.
