Harry stared aghast at the items Seamus had laid out on his bed. The grey wool pleated skirt was so short it would barely cover Harry's thighs. "Come on, Harry. A bet's a bet. You can't back out now." Seamus wasn't to be dissuaded.

"But we've got Potions today! I can't wear all that, Snape will know something's up!"

"Not if you wear your robes fully buttoned," Ron pointed out. "No one will know what you're wearing under there except for you."

"And you four." Harry glowered at his dorm mates, but only Neville looked away, as if in shame. The rest of them were grinning like lunatics as if this would be the funniest thing all year. They'd all been a bit de-mob happy after Voldemort had been defeated and this latest bet was only one in a long line of them that seemed to serve no purpose except to humiliate Harry.

"You have to do it," said Dean. "One whole day wearing a girl's uniform. You promised."

"But no one said anything about knickers!" Harry could barely bear to look at the frilly confection on the bed.

"Don't tell me it'll be the first time you ever got into a girl's knickers!" Seamus laughed at his own joke and Harry hoped no one had noticed his blush. It would indeed be the first time he ever went near girls' underwear. Looking at Aunt Petunia's clothing catalogues probably didn't count.

"All right, I'll do it, but you lot have got to leave and let me get dressed in peace."

"How will we know you've really put them on? You could just Banish them somewhere and button up your robes so we wouldn't know." Seamus glanced at the others who nodded in agreement, as if they didn't trust Harry's word either.

Harry sighed. "Okay, okay. Once I'm dressed in the skirt I'll wait to put my robes on. Come back in ten minutes."

"We can do that," said Neville, as he ushered the others out and Harry could get dressed in privacy.

Once they had gone, Harry spent a few more moments just staring at the clothes. Why did he ever agree to such silly bets in the first place? No matter what it was, he always lost and it was him who had to wear the girls' clothes or sneak into the kitchens without the elves noticing or anything else the others could think up.

Harry sighed again as he took off the pyjama bottoms and t-shirt that he'd worn to bed. He'd already had his shower this morning; the clothes had been waiting for him when he'd returned from the bathroom. God, this would be so embarrassing if someone caught him dressed like this. Harry could almost imagine the headlines in the Daily Prophet already: Boy Who Lived is the Boy Who Likes Dresses!.

Shaking his head, Harry tugged down his boxer shorts and slipped on the frilly knickers. As usual, Snape was glaring at Harry from the teachers' table, although what imagined infraction Harry had supposedly done now, Harry wasn't aware of. Harry ignored him and tucked into the remainder of his breakfast.

It was some sort of Gryffindor prank, it had to be. What other reason could there be for Harry Potter to walk about school with his robes as buttoned up as Severus' own? He was doing it to humiliate Severus, that was the only thing Severus could think of. But why?

For the past three weeks Harry Potter had been in Severus' class wearing his robes buttoned from ankle to collar, much like Severus himself did, and Severus was getting heartily sick of it. Longbottom was no longer in the Advanced Potions class but Severus wished for a second that he was so that an explosion could distract the rest of them. He needed some excuse to order Potter to stay after class, but so far Potter hadn't done anything wrong.

A flash of silvery hair out of the corner of his eye caught both Severus and Potter unawares. Severus had no idea what Draco Malfoy had just lobbed into Potter's cauldron, but its effects were immediate and effective. Black, acrid smoke swirled about Potter's cauldron making the whole class choke. Severus used a neutralising spell on the mess in Potter's cauldron to clear the smoke. "Potter, see me after class!" Severus barked.

Potter glared at him, his eyes flashing jade fire and his face flushed with anger, but he didn't bother speaking back. Everyone in that room knew it would have made no difference to Severus. Potter would be staying behind no matter what.

The rest of the class concentrated on finishing their potions, but Potter just stood by his worktable, his arms folded across his chest, the anger simmering from him in waves. It shouldn't have felt this good to bait Potter, but it did. When the bell rang for the end of class Severus was surprised to find that the shiver of anticipation he felt at having Potter alone for the first time in weeks was almost sexual in nature.

As his classmates filed out of the room, Potter put away his books and quills but stood by his worktable and made no move to escape the dungeons.
